Principal's Message
|
Dear Parents,
On Monday, we had a schoolwide assembly to talk about behavior in the final weeks of school. We focused on the four main traits in our Murwood motto: respect, responsibility, safety, and caring. We asked students to return to those behaviors as the end-of-the-year excitement increases, so that everyone may enjoy the festivities safely and calmly.
Please join us Tuesday night for Open House! At 6:00, Mr. Jones will direct a musical performance, which will end at 6:30. Classrooms are open from 6:30 -7:30.
As a school community, we also did a schoolwide math investigation called, "What's Your Angle?" The Problems of the Month are designed to be used school wide to promote a problem-solving theme. The problem is divided into five levels, Level A through Level E, to allow access and scaffolding for the students into different aspects of the problem and to stretch students to go deeper into mathematical complexity. The goal is for all students to have the experience of attacking and solving non-routine problems and developing their mathematical reasoning skills. Posters will be hung to display how the students solved this problem. Be sure to ask your child to explain their classmate's thinking to you.
Thank you,
Carol Nenni

Dear Murwood Families,
Thank you to everyone who made it to last night's PTA meeting, especially the teachers. We elected next year's Executive Board, approved Collaborative Fundraising, and finished up our meeting business for the year.
I would like to ask you to click on this link and share your views on what Murwood PTA's budget prioritizes should be for next year. This will help the budget committee craft th budget that will be presented at the first PTA meeting of next year.
These last few weeks are very busy with Open Housen, Track & Field, and the End of Year Picnic, so we hope you can join us. Have a great week!

Enjoy our Drama Club Play - Munchkin Mediation - "It's one year later and all the famous characters have returned to Oz. They've been having trouble readjusting, and their quarrels have led to the throwing of more than one yellow brick. With the usual memorable tunes and silly humor, Munchkin Mediation introduces and reinforces strategies for controlling anger, using "I-statements," active listening, sharing perspectives, and finding win-win solutions to conflict."
