Science Fair Thursday in the MPR 6-8 PM.  All students must be accompanied by and stay with their parents. Please remember to take your project home Friday afternoon! 
FRIDAY IS REGULAR DISMISSAL TIME AT 2:35 PM.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents of English Learners,

 

Please attend our District English Language Advisory Committee meeting TONIGHT, at the Walnut Creek District Office, 960 Ygnacio Valley Road (at the corner of Ygnacio and Walnut) from 7- 8 PM.  We are asking for your feedback on programs in which your children participate, how we can raise parent involvement, as well as your input on what you would like to see in programs that serve your children. Thank you.

I hope you are enjoying your auction winnings, the nice weather, and preparations for tomorrow's Science Fair.

SCIENCE FAIR 

The Science Fair is THIS THURSDAY, March 26th, 6-8 PM. Families welcome, please keep your students with you at all times. 

 

Containers and presentation boards can be dropped off at the MP room today from 2:30-4 PM or Thursday before school. All materials must be picked up by 8:15 AM on Friday morning. Containers and Skyscrapers will be tested at the Science Fair at 6:30 PM.

SPRING FLING CONCERT

The all school (K-5th grades) spring concert is coming! Save the date for May 21st at 6 PM. We will have a picnic before the concert on the baseball field.

PTA Luau Auction for Eduction

MRS. CERRUTI'S FRIDAY FLICKS PARTY
There are still spots left for Mrs. Cerruti's Friday Flicks Party on April 10 from 2:35 - 4:30 pm in Room 3. Your child can kick off their weekend with a special Friday Flicks with Ms. Cerruti. They can bring a blanket and settle in to watch Big Hero 6 with friends. Snacks will be provided. Number of Student Attendees limited to 20. Cost $20. All proceeds benefit the Murwood PTA. 

OTHER SIGN-UPS
There are also spots left for several other sign up parties including the 5th Grade Summer Send Off. Sign up sheets are located on the PTA Bulletin Board in the lobby area of Murwood. Not only are these great opportunities to meet other families in the Murwood Community, they also raise much-needed funds for our PTA. For more information, email [email protected]

All auction winnings not picked up last week, will be sent home in the Wednesday Envelope. LIBRARY NEWS

A big congratulations to Murwood's 21 third, fourth and fifth graders who completed the three intermediate chapter books nominated for the California Young Reader Medal! We're proud of you Sienna H, Gracelyn S, Will J, David L, Aleesha  S, Ian B, Erkhes M, Laurel T, Zach L, Sophia N, Sage B, Adam S, Evan B, Alisa M, Grace D, Kate L, Stella C, Emma F, Madison D, Kailani RW and Esther S. These students joined me for pizza and voting on Monday and we are excited to announce that Wonder by R.J. Palacio was the winning book for our school.


All third through fifth graders were polled on the Picture Books For Older Readers nominees. The winner in this category for Murwood was Brothers at Bat: The True Story of an Amazing All-Brother Team by Audrey Vernick. 

 

Pre-K through fifth graders heard and voted on the picture books in the Primary category and choose Too Tall Houses by Gianna Marino as their favorite. Murwood's ballots have been forwarded on and added to a statewide tally. The winning titles for California will be announced on May 1st.

WCEF

WCEF Spring Gala on Friday, May 1, 2015 

The event, themed "Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Future," will l be held at the Fireside Room,Rossmoor and kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a no-host cocktail hour, followed by a catered buffet dinner, and awards ceremony to honor some of those who have supported WCEF throughout its 32-year history.
