Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Please join us this Thursday, February 5, for our annual Superintendent Coffee with Dr. Wool.  We look forward to you joining us for coffee and conversation.  Come to the office, sign in,  and join us in the staff lounge at 9:00 AM.

Thank you to Dana Neitz and Andrea Slavet for all the hard work organizing our annual Disco Bingo Night!! It is a Murwood favorite and a great family time.  Many thanks to all the families who stayed and helped clean tables, sweep floors, and tidy up the MPR.  I appreciate your willingness to pitch in.  That's what makes us such a great community!

Congratulations to Kailani and all the contestants in this year's spelling bee!  What a hard fought competition among full-fledged scholars!  This was one of the most competitive battles we ever had.

Thank you,

Carol Nenni

Murwood Principal

From the Office

Reminder for Parents of 1st Graders and Kinders:  If you have been contacted by our district nurse and have not already done so, please be sure to schedule your dental exams soon and get the assessment form turned in to our office.  If you need the yellow Oral Health Assessment form again, we can provide that for you.

We will be hosting a Superintendent Coffee hour at Murwood on Thursday, February 5th.  Please see the attached flyer for details.

Our district will be holding a Kindergarten Informational Meeting on Thursday, February 19th, at Walnut Creek Intermediate for incoming TK and Kindergarteners.  Please see the attached flyer for more information, and RSVP to Sandy Miller (925-944-6850 x2000) at the district office.

From the PTA President

Dear Murwood families,

Please join us Wednesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. for our general Meeting. We will be hearing Dr. Wool's Budget 101 presentation alongside our friends at Buena Vista, and we will also be covering proposed changes to our by-laws, nominations for next year, and an update on our auction efforts.

We also hope you're excited about our upcoming Auction for Education.  Our team has been hard at work, and they would love to have your help. Check out the links below for more information.

KIDS LOVE WALKING CLUB - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Are you able to come out for Walking Club for less than an hour one day per week? Walking Club is a program offered to our kids through PTA. Every day during lunch recess the kids head out to the field to pick up their tracking card and walk or run around the track. It's a great way to them to get their blood flowing, blow off a little steam, visit with friends, and make new friends.

We need more volunteers on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in order to provide this fun activity for the kids consistently every day (and they really get disappointed when it's not set up for them!). Each volunteer goes out one day per week from 11:40 - 12:30. This is a fun opportunity for someone who likes to be outside and it's rewarding to see how much the kids love doing it. Contact Tina Neuhausel ASAP if you want to help.

We have a unique opportunity to include athletes mid-season as we build up our 12 and under teams. Bring all interested swimmers to Heather Farm Park this Saturday from 11:00-Noon. There is plenty of opportunity left in the season for athletes to train and compete, and get a taste of this wonderful sport! Forward this email to friends and family.
