Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and Welcome Back to all our Murwood families!  With the start of the New Year, let's commit to having children in school, on time, for the duration of each school day.  Unless your child has an excusable absence (illness, documented medical appointment) they need to be here learning with their classmates. Missed days cannot be made up as worksheets do not include the vital instruction that students miss when they are not present in the classroom.  Show your children how important school is by insisting they be here on time, all day, and every day.

Thank you to Mrs. Rathert and her first graders, Dexter, Ayla, Ryan, and Kat for teaching the WCSD Governing Board about how first graders practice Accountable Talk in the classroom each day!  They did a great job modeling the "4 L's" by Leaning in, Looking at their partner, Lowering their voice and Listening! Bravo, Mrs. Rathert and first grade!

5th graders and parents!  It time for the Rite of Passage Experience (ROPES) sign up!  We were lucky enough to have sixth grader Donovan S. return to Murwood to talk about his great ROPES experience last year  when he learned to cook.  ROPES challenge is open to all FIFTH graders and present a unique learning experience in which the students select challenges from the ROPES challenge booklet to demonstrate thinking and creativity in a number of areas.  Parents and Fifth grade students, please attend the ROPES meeting to learn more on January 15, 2015, in the WCI library at 7:00 p.m.

Thank you,

Carol Nenni

Murwood Principal

From the Office

If your phone number (cell and/or home) has changed, or if you have moved, please make sure you have alerted the office to update your information.  We rely on this information for important mailings and to locate you in the case of an emergency or sick child.  Also, if you know that you will be moving out of the area, be sure to let the office know so we can prepare for that.

Please, please LABEL your children's jackets, lunch boxes, reusable water bottles, and other items that are frequently left behind.  We end up with so many things in the lost and found (or accidentally picked up by another student who owns a similar item)...when student's things are labeled, it is much easier to return them to the correct owner.

Got volunteer badges?? If you find that a badge or two have made their way home with you, please return them to the bin in the office.  Thank you!

From the PTA President
