Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

If you do not have a confirmed conference with your child's teacher, please call our school office right away (925/943-2462).  It is the most important link to your child's success.  Please don't pass up this opportunity to partner with your child's teacher and strengthen that important home school connection.

SOS!! We are looking for two volunteers to serve as Room Parent Liaison and Auction Ticket Sales.  If you can assist with either of these positions, please contact the school office and leave a message with Lynnette.

Thank you,

Carol Nenni

Murwood Principal

From the Office

Please make sure your children are getting a good breakfast (always include protein!) before they head off to school, and pack a healthy snack for them.  If your mornings are rushed, try keeping some grab and go items in your pantry...things like string cheese, granola bars, whole grain toaster waffles with nut or soy butter, trail mix, and hard-boiled eggs are great.  We have too many students lately that are looking for snacks at the start of school and at recess.  With the colder mornings, it takes their little bodies more energy to stay warm AND be ready for learning.  Let's do our part to start them off right every morning!

REMINDER:  Parent-Teacher Conferences are happening this week!  Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are MINIMUM DAYS as follows:

Kindergarten - dismisses at 11:20 AM

                1st through 5th - dismisses at 12:30 PM

*We appreciate your being on time to pick up your students*

We have a lot of nice jackets and such on our lost & found rack outside of the office.  Be sure to take a look when you're on campus to see if anything belongs to your little ones!

From the PTA President

Dear Murwood Families,

Even though the holiday season  is now upon us, our volunteers are hard at work putting together our annual Auction for Education.  This fundraiser is how we raise the bulk of our money to support Murwood each year, and it requires a lot of help.  Currently, we are looking for donations for the online and silent auctions, items for the classroom baskets, hosts for sign up parties, and volunteers to help catalog donations and tickets.  Please contact Tina Neuhausel or Meghan Donnelly  for more information.

I hope all of you have a safe and happy break next week!

Mandy Wells
PTA President

HALLOWEEN CANDY COLLECTION
Thank you to all who shared your Halloween bounty!  We collected almost 60 pounds of candy for donation to the Contra Costa Food Bank!

MURWOOD FOOD DRIVE
Murwood is collecting food for our annual food drive for the Contra Costa Food Bank. We have already collected over 450 items, but would love to collect much more! Please send non-perishable food donations with your child to put in their class boxes tomorrow and Friday. They especially need canned vegetables and fruits, soup, canned meat (chicken, tuna), pasta, rice, cereal and beans. No expired food or glass containers please. Thank you for your support!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR PTA BY-LAW REVISION COMMITTEE

Our by-laws must be updated this year due to a change at the California PTA level.  We need 3-4 volunteers to help update the by-laws. You must be a current member of the PTA for this job. Please contact Mandy Wells to volunteer or get more information.
