July Newsletter 2014

Hooray, Summer!

As much as we love ski season, summertime is the most exciting time in the Roaring Fork Valley!  With so many activities and events going on, it can be easy to push aside those injuries that caused you issues in the winter. Don't forget to pay attention to your body and come see us to take care of those chronic injuries!

Did You Know?

Post-operative scars can cause pain, lack of sensation, and discomfort with exercise.  It was shown in a student case report by Danielle Van Holst, that 60 minute massage sessions for 5 weeks decreased pain, increased range of motion, restored sensation, and increased comfort with exercise.  "The modalities used included hot hydrotherapy to the scar itself, swedish massage, neuromuscular, as well as facial and myofascial techniques to the compensating muscles."

NEW Treatment at AIM!

This FDA approved device helps treat anxiety, insomnia, and depression. After 10 minutes, you can start to feel relaxed and at ease. With simple ear clips, the device sends electromagnetic waves to the brain to help "reset" your brain pattern.

Mindfulness in Nature

Many people find that they spend a great deal of the time occupied by thoughts about the past or worrying about the future.  Dr. Hughes finds it important to explore a calmer, more focused way of being by spending time in the wildness.  Allowing the mind to settle into the direct experience from moment to moment can lead to a vividness of awareness which is often masked when the mind is preoccupied.

Don't Forget!

We accept Worker's Compensation and Auto Insurance for those unexpected injuries!

Come see our massage therapists, Adam and Dave Nickamin, to help with your injury. Or ask Dr. Hughes for an evaluation! (Referral needed to schedule).

Happy 4th of July!!!
