What Do You Want?

"What do you want? That's right. What do you want from God? Fame? Fortune? What is your deepest desire? It seems like a question we'd only get after rubbing a magic lamp. But the truth is, God asks us that question every day. Maybe if you really thought about it you wouldn't realistically ask for fame and fortune. For St Ignatius, that desire-whatever it is-should allow us to praise, reverence, and serve God."

REGIONAL PORTRAITS

The following 'portraits' are to provide you with an overview of two CLC regions. These overviews discuss topics such as formation and missions. They provide us with insights into how our CLC members in other regions are doing and show us what resources, prayer life, and actions our regions have been employing that have allowed for continuous growth and renewal.

CENTRAL REGION

IS THE SPIRIT CALLING US TO CONFIRM OUR COMMON APOSTOLIC MISSION DISCERNED IN SEPTEMBER 2010?
wooden-color-people.jpg

The title of this article is the theme of the Spring Council Meeting of Central Region. Eleven out of 17 CLC communities were represented at the meeting held on June 4th at St. Joseph's Elementary School in Streetsville. The theme was mission and it specifically focused on the Central Region commitment to support displaced Haitian children through education in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a decision made by Council in 2010....We might ask ourselves, how have we done? How has it impacted the balance of all three of our pillars- Spirituality, Community, and Mission? Are we growing together? Are we growing as individuals? Are we planting the Love of Christ in the midst of those less fortunate to give them spiritual, not just corporal, sustenance?
This article will give the reader some insight into the process of evaluation and the history of the mission.

EVERY CLCER'S MUST READ...
Book Review
students-discussion.jpg
Welcoming Strangers-an Emmaus Community Story was written by Sue Rambow. The book is an inspiring, interesting and easy read, comprised of a little under one hundred pages. Sue belongs to the first CLC established in the Rocky Region, and her book is a story of many dedicated, loving, personal and communal responses to more than a generation of mission in the area of social justice.

PRAYER FOR MORNING AND NEW BEGINNINGS
At the Beginning of the Day

O God,
I find myself at the beginning of another day.
I do not know what it will bring.
Please help me to be ready for whatever it may be.

If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely.
If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly.
If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently.
If I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly.

I pray just for today, for these twenty-four hours,
for the ability to cooperate with others according to the way Jesus taught us to live.
"Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
May these words that he taught us become more than words.

Please free my thinking and feelings and the thinking and feelings of others,
from all forms of self-will, self-centeredness, dishonesty, and deception.
Along with my brothers and sisters,
I need this freedom to make my choices today according to your desires.
Send your Spirit to inspire me in time of doubt and indecision so that, together, we can walk along your path. Amen.

-J. Veltri, S.J.
