Guelph WalkingPilgrimage  2014
A Pilgrimage Experience...

Peter Chouinard, Earthen Vessel CLC
Atlantic Region

I had always been interested in stories of pilgrimages and have contemplated my own desire of walking the Camino  or at
least part of the Camino in France/Spain some

day. That dream still lives within me.

As fate would have it, this summer I had plans to be in Ontario and I was asked if I might be interested in a walking pilgrimage from Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario to the Martyr's Shrine in Midland, Ontario, a journey of 188 kms. I thought about it and looked at the pilgrimage website; ignatiusguelph.ca/pilgrimage.html to see if it was something I might be interested in doing. Since 2002, a group of pilgrims journey from the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph, to the Jesuit Martyrs' Shrine in Midland

SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS' WORKSHOP

Peter Chouinard,

Earthen Vessel CLC,
Atlantic Region

This past summer I was fortunate to participate in a 12 day Spiritual Director's Workshop at Loyola House in Guelph, Ontario. The workshop was based on the full
Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. A prerequisite for this workshop is that one has already made the Spiritual Exercises, either in daily life (Annotation 19) or in a closed setting (Annotation 20). It is meant for people who are interested in learning how to direct others or in refining their directing skills. It gives one a new experience of the principle of discernment and the practice of decision-making as found in the Exercises.

A CLC REFLECTION FROM OUR NEA...
Trevor Scott, SJ

As students, as teachers, or as parents, the autumn season has always been the beginning of a new year. It's a busy time, it's an exciting time... and maybe even a time of anxiety. For CLC at this time of year it is also new, busy and exciting... and yes, even filled with a bit of anxiety for some of us. CLC groups of friends in our Lord are starting to meet once again across the country and many have taken on new roles and responsibilities within CLC Canada. To name just a couple that are most immediate to myself... Leah Michaud is our new National president, and I have taken on the roles of your National Ecclessial Assistant, and the role of Ecclessial Assistant of the Atlantic Region. This is exciting, but it can also be a little overwhelming.... the e-mails! The dates to remember! The names and roles and acronyms to learn!:)          read more...

MISSION IN ACTION
CENTRAL REGION
Ground Zero for Haitian Migrant Children

My name is Shelley Koehler and I am a devoted CLCer with the Pilgrims on the Journey group in Guelph, Ontario. I have always felt a call to go and work with the less fortunate. By design my husband and I organized a sabbatical year this school year. As a teacher, I was able to plan more easily my volunteer experience in the
Dominican Republic working with Haitian migrant children.  With the patience assistance of Fr. JP Horrigan and many of the CLCers in Guelph, a mountain of emails and incessant praying I was able to solidify my plans to travel to the DR. Following a connection between CLC Central and Fr. Mario Serrano, a Jesuit priest who works on the front lines in the Dominican, plans have been evolving. On Oct. 13th, I arrived to the heat and humidity of the Island of Hispaniola.

"The Door to Missionary Evangelization"

Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre, Quebec

September 2014

I am very grateful to have represented CLC Canada at this Forum. Getting organized to go always leaves some mystery as to 'if' I will meet the intended person at the airport and get to my destination on time in an
unfamiliar setting etc. All registrants had to find their own way to Ste. Anne-de-Beaupre, north of Quebec city. The list of participants sent by the registrar helped me
identify those I might connect with.
