ST IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA
Day of Celebration July 31st
|

St. Ignatius Loyola was born in 1491, one of 13 children of a family of minor nobility in northern Spain. As a young man Ignatius Loyola was inflamed by the ideals of courtly love and knighthood and dreamed of doing great deeds.
But in 1521 Ignatius was gravely wounded in a battle with the French. While recuperating, Ignatius Loyola experienced a conversion. Reading the lives of Jesus and the saints made Ignatius happy and aroused desires to do great things. Ignatius realized that these feelings were clues to God's direction for him.
Over the years, Ignatius became expert in the art of spiritual direction. He collected his insights, prayers, and suggestions in his book the Spiritual Exercises, one of the most influential books on the spiritual life ever written. With a small group of friends, Ignatius Loyola founded the Society of Jesus, or the Jesuits. Ignatius conceived the Jesuits as "contemplatives in action." This also describes the many Christians who have been touched by Ignatian spirituality.

The World Is Not Enough

Fall in Love
Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.

Dear CVX-CLC brothers and sisters,
Joyfully remembering our friendship and solidarity as CVX-CLX around the world,
CLC Canada announces to you that Leah Michaud of Atlantic Region has been chosen to serve as President with General Council beginning September 2014. Leah has been 'sent' to attend the USA assembly this July with ongoing desires to continue to unfold a growing relationship among | |
North Americans, in collaboration as leaders through reciprocal sharing of resources more broadly preparing for the future of CLC formation and networking of mission.
True to the request of World CVX CLC for each national to share 'what we have been up to' since the World Assembly 2013 in Lebanon, we are sharing ourselves with you through our
e-newsletter conceived just before the World Assembly. The Power Point Presentations were shared with Dominique Cyr of French Canada to translate with their own spin on the events of the World Assembly and English Canada's 4th insertion trip led through a discerned common mission for Haitians in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Both French and English Canada journey with one another on these trips and recognize the gift of circumstance, language and shared inspiration among Jesuits and CVX-CLC members to build enduring relationships 'as friends in the Lord' as invited by the Trinity.
Among the many efforts of our national members a few are highlighted in this newsletter:
-
Lebanon World Assembly PPT (with voice) was made as a labour of love in celebration the 450 years of Ignation lay communities, the 40th year of CLC English Canada existence and the 10th year since the passing of beloved John English s.j., Canada's CLC founder. Our communities will be encouraged to view it in their community and/or in clusters to assist the grounding and ongoing efforts to digest and incorporate the blessings of Lebanon. (48 minutes)
