NOAH- A Review Posted by Eric Jensen, SJ in Our Culture
|
Is it myth? Is it history? Is it epic? Is it prophecy? It's all of the above, and then some! These are the generations of Titanic, which begat Lord of the Rings, which begat Harry Potter, which begat Gladiator, which begat Noah.

Kenosis
The aridity of the creek bed has
etched a barren network of broken shards curling at their edges. The bed itself may cry out for
drenching rain to restore it to
wholeness, but its brokenness has opened a resting place for a
seed. The hopeful seed nestles into the desiccated crevice in the
soil. Gazing beyond the cracking it
must endure, it dreams of bearing
fruit. Might the unfolding of the beautiful dream be worth the
pain of breaking open?

REGIONAL REP TO NATIONAL
Greetings and Easter blessings are offered from Central Region to all of our CLC family. We are full of anticipation as Easter evokes this and as we await the outcomes of works in progress. The focus of our winter planning has been set by priorities determined by our executive council (CREXCO) vacancies and our Common
Apostolic Mission for the people of Haiti as well as support for the preparations underway for the upcoming National Assembly in Saint John, N.B. May 30.
Briefly, Central prayed for and was blessed with a Leadership Task Force which is establishing contact with nominees for executive positions and building bridges to form a Common Mission Leadership group, a new initiative. Hopefully, we will have some firm commitment by the next Central Regional Council meeting on June 21st. We invite your prayers for the continuing efforts of this wonderful team for both endeavors. read more

What Easter came to transform!
South Sudan entombed in grief
.......we invite you to pray with us as a nation in solidarity
with South Sudan.

Recently harsh news from CLC South Sudan's reality has cut through sunshine days and melting snow ; t hat phenomenon of the Canadian Spring that seeks out Easter grace of the Risen Christ and new life bursting forth that finally came.
As CLC delegates to Lebanon it hits close to home to read of 'life' so disposable; lives of CLC members and family members murdered..... Leanne Salel and Mary Balfe sat the last evening in Lebanon with delegates Rosetta and Nicola and their Jesuit E.A. Munene of South Sudan. Please take time to enfold hurting members of our CLC family by reading the accounts in the following documents. Let our CLC brothers and sisters know they are not alone. Sent from World CLC-CVX at Leanne Salel's inquiry is a CLC Sudan report documenting their story and a response to Leanne from the South Sudanese Jesuit, Munene. We heard tragic stories in Lebanon and ate together then, and now as Canada's World lay delegates we invite you to pray with us as a nation in solidarity with South Sudan. Monetary assistance can be offered though AOR Jesuits of Eastern Africa. Dear CLC friends,
CHRIST IS RISEN. HE IS RISEN INDEED ALLELUIA!
It has been a while since I wrote for the UPDATE. So, it is good to have this occasion to write you as we are celebrating these days, and for the next 50 days , the
great events of our faith - We proclaim your death O Lord, we profess your holy resurrection, until you come again! We have come out of a long difficult winter in many parts of Canada. We have seen and we are still experiencing the violence and conflict, and the sadness of lost lives in many parts of the world, even in the city of Calgary where I am living. As we try to understand and respond to these events, our faith in the victory of love of Christ Jesus' self gift to the Father for all of us, is centred on the One who has been raised up from the dead and has begun the new creation and given us all a part in the building of this new creation through love. read more...
