USCJ's Convention 2015 will be a laboratory for positive change in North American synagogue life.

On November 13 -14 we will gather for a transformative Shabbat featuring some of our most engaging and inspiring tefillah leaders. They include: Amichai Lau-Lavie, spiritual leader of Lab/Shul and founder of Storahtelling; Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt, director of the Jewish Mindfulness Center at Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, DC (scroll down through the clergy section to see her bio); Joey Weisenberg of Mechon Hadar's Center for Communal Music; Cantor George Mordecai of Temple Israel Center, White Plains, NY; and Rabbi Adam Kligfeld and Josh Warshawsky of Temple Beth Am, Los Angeles.

On November 15 - 17, the convention begins. We will create an immense laboratory of Jewish innovation, featuring interactive workshops and intensive multi-session tracks that will empower you to launch a process of strengthening and transforming your kehilla.

You will learn and interact with innovative Jewish leaders and renowned
thinkers
, including featured teachers like Harvard Professor Robert Kegan, author of Immunity to Change, and award-winning author Dara Horn, who will talk about her writing and her lifelong involvement in Conservative Judaism.

You will have access to experts, specialists, and peers who'll help you map out ways to move your community forward:

  • Re-imagine how your kehilla can connect with Millennials, families with young children, and under-engaged populations;
  • Create a more inclusive community;
  • Rethink the meaning of membership and ensuring financial sustainability;
  • Spur innovation and manage change;
  • Reframe the role of interfaith families in your kehilla.

We will also experience the very best of Conservative Judaism, through Shabbat and the Convention Beit Midrash, where we will study with some of today's foremost Jewish scholars. We will celebrate together, too, with music, performance, wine and food.

Don't miss the largest gathering of Conservative Jews in the world.

Help shape the radiant center of Jewish life.

The 2015 Convention Reservation page is up. Reserve now - early bird rates will end on April 30. You can come for the Shabbaton, the Convention, or both. Special rates available for students and those 36 and under.

The Location
We are gathering in the center of the continent to shape the center of Jewish life. Schaumburg, in suburban Chicago, is very convenient to O'Hare Airport and has some great points of interest. We will provide opportunities for participants to see Chicago, and bring a little bit of Chicago to the Convention.

The Venue

The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel offers both a state of the art conference center and excellent accommodations, including free parking, in-room refrigerators, fitness center, pool, and hot tub, all at rates that are 23% less than the hotel rates at the 2013 USCJ Centennial.
