I want to extend a very special thank you and sincere appreciation for the support and encouragement you have given to your children during the recent statewide testing activities. I know our teachers and administrators work hard to prepare our students and to know that parents are supporting those efforts makes all the difference. Thank you.
While it seems like the winter weather will never give way to green grass and blooming flowers of spring, the calendar tells us it is that time of year. As we enter the final quarter of the school year it seems hard to believe that spring has arrived and with it so many school related activities. Although the weather may not be cooperating, we still push forward with all our usual events that occur at the end of the school year. Our baseball, softball, track and golf teams have begun practices, as best they can, and are hoping the weather warms enough to allow for games and matches to be played. It is also the time of year when your children's schools are planning their end of the year awards ceremonies and activities.
Just a reminder to be sure to check out the school websites and newsletters to make sure you get the dates, times and locations for all of your child's end of the year activities and events.
Sincerely,
Robert L. Taylor, Ed.D.

A Walk through Time at Central
Central 3rd graders have been studying famous people from History and shared with the whole school and parents what they found out about them, by becoming them! The students were tasked with picking a person who had an impact on the world. They were required to site sources, find quotes, facts, create a timeline and then present the information from the perspective of their person. The students creatively cut holes in poster board in order to make room for their face, and spoke from that person's perspective through their presentation. It truly was a history lesson come to life! Students, staff and parents were invited to come see the presentations and take a walk through history as they "spoke" with these famous, influential people.

Harney Elementary News
W-HETV shows off for the school board!
A news show at the school board meeting? "Sure!" said Harney's W-HETV news crew! Harney has a cast of 24 students and one adult who are in charge of the Harney News Show. Recently, students were able to model how the show is produced in front of the school board. Four students along with advisor Julie Lakomek recorded on scene the night of a board meeting.
The evening's crew members consisted of Macy Woodrum, Bailye Summers, Jared Sherman, and Caleb McKaig. Together, they each had a role in the production which included two news anchors, a director, and a co-director. The production featured how the director runs the session by controlling the iPad used for the video. The anchors follow the director to know when to stop and start recording, and the co-director is in charge of a computer that runs graphics behind the anchors.

Cedars Earns Jostens National Yearbook Design Recognition
The Lebanon High School yearbook, Cedars, has been recognized for excellence and featured in the 2015 Jostens Look Book, celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and coverage. The Jostens Look Book is a collection of spreads and photos from outstanding yearbooks and their creative themes, cool covers, dazzling designs, relevant coverage, storytelling copy and action-packed photography. Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the important role well-crafted yearbooks play in helping schools chronicle the experiences, stories and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.
Cedars was created by editors-in-chief Kylin Schoeff and Bailee Weaver and staff under the direction of Mrs. Carol Kazmierczak, Lebanon High School yearbook adviser.
"I am very proud of the outstanding work our yearbook journalists accomplish on a daily basis to tell the unique story of the school year and the students' lives at Lebanon High School."
Cedars was one of only 476 yearbooks selected from approximately 3,000. The 2015 panel of judges, comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 344-page 2015 Look Book.
"Yearbooks are unique, limited edition books created by students to capture the stories and events for all of the school's students and Jostens is proud to celebrate the yearbook tradition and the 476 yearbooks selected for the 2015 Jostens Look Book, said Gary Lundgren, editor. "Today's yearbooks are very sophisticated in terms of visual presentation and the relevant and inclusive content that is featured."
Kazmierczak and her yearbook staff received a copy of the 2015 Jostens Look Book and certificate from Jostens to recognize their outstanding achievement.
