Supreme Court Watch
We are watching Hamid v. Moser, Los Angeles County Superior Court Case No. BC392082, where the issue is what set-offs apply to non-economic damages in a medical malpractice case. Oral argument is set for October 7, 2014.
Governor Jerry Brown has nominated Mariano-Florentino Cuellar to replace Justice Marvin Baxter, who is retiring after serving 24 years on the California Supreme Court. Mr. Cuellar (age 41) is a law professor at Stanford University. Governor Brown still must name a replacement for Justice Joyce Kennard, who retired from the Supreme Court earlier this year.
