Court Updates
                
Los Angeles County Superior Court, the largest in the United States, continues to operate under increased budgetary restraints.  Parties must now pay a non-refundable filing fee when they reserve a motion hearing date in one of the personal injury courtrooms in the Main Downtown Courthouse.
New Damages Case
                
In Dodd v. Cruz, 2014 WL 461158 (Cal.App. 2014), the California Court of Appeal has held that a defendant is entitled to conduct discovery into the amount actually paid for a lien on medical services.  The amount paid is relevant to show the reasonable value of the medical expenses provided.
