There will be a Parent Information Night on Thursday, February 6th , at Lakeridge Middle School, for all parents and guardians who are new to the Highly Capable program and process.  This evening, from 6:30-7:30, will provide an overview of the nomination selection process, discussion of the characteristics of highly capable students, and a description of our Highly Capable Programs.

If you have questions about the program, qualification criteria, or selection process, please contact Tari Littlefield at 253-891-6035.

Special Election:  February 11, 2014
The Sumner School District Board of Directors approved 2 levies for submission to the voters of the District at a special election to be held on February 11, 2014.
  • Proposition 1 is a replacement Educational Programs, Maintenance & Operations Levy.  This proposed levy replaces the District's current educational programs, maintenance and operation levy approved in 2010, which expires at the end of 2014. This is not a new tax, it simply replaces an expiring levy.  In the Sumner School District, these levy dollars support 1 out of every 5 students.
  • Proposition 2 is an Instructional Technology Capital Levy.  This proposed levy would allow the District to increase student access to technology. This levy will also pay for the cost to integrate the needed technology for student assessment and instruction on a daily basis for students, teachers, and staff.

More information can be found on the District Web site.

Preschool at Eismann Elementary

Our Little Scouts are always busy learning.  This month they joined us in learning about Martin Luther King, Jr.

Calling All Artists!

The Courier-Herald is giving our artistic students here at Eismann an opportunity to show off their talents to our community. We are going to provide the newspaper with

colorful pictures made by our students to go with their advertisements. If your child would like to participate, have them draw several practice illustrations related to the

following topics: cars, gymnastics, tractors, hamburgers, pets, dance, orthodontics, banks, preschool, insurance, and plumbing. These are the types of businesses that

we will be providing pictures for. Please have your student bring his/her practice illustrations to school by Wednesday. We will be doing the actual work on paper

provided by the Courier-Herald at the school on Wednesday, January 29th.  Newspapers are published with tight deadlines as is the case for this work as well. Questions? Please contact Stephany Millet at  [email protected].

Technology in our Classrooms

Our Explorers are busy using iPads and chrome books in the classroom. These tools have greatly enhanced the learning process and students enjoy the hands-on experience with the newest technology.

Have a great weekend. Please remember that Monday, January 27 is a no student day.   On Monday our teachers will be engaged in professional development. Monday is a great day for Explorers to catch up on reading that great book and practicing those important math facts.

Respectfully,
