Eclipse Resources Corp. has drilled what could be the world's longest onshore lateral in Ohio's Guernsey County. The company drilled, completed and turned to sales the Purple Hayes 1H during the first quarter. It's a massive Utica Shale well, with a lateral of 18,544 feet that was drilled in just 18 days and completed with a slickwater frack of 124 stages spaced at 150-feet.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration has produced new maps that show the structure, thickness, and geologic setting of the Utica Shale play and the location of production wells. Production of oil and natural gas from the Utica play has increased since 2011, with more than 1,700 wells drilled as of January 2016. The Utica play includes both the Utica formation and the deeper Point Pleasant formation, each with its own characteristics.

On 13 April 2016, DGO completed the acquisition of all the conventional assets of Eclipse Resources in the State of Ohio (USA). The assets acquired included approximately 1,300 conventional oil and gas wells producing approximately 250 barrels of oil per day ("BOPD") and 3,000 MCF per day of natural gas production. This is the Company's largest acquisition in the State of Ohio to date.  As a result of this acquisition, DGO now owns and operates approximately 5,000 conventional wells in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, producing approximately 450 BOPD and 13,000 MCF per day of natural gas.

Appeals court hears arguments on Nexus Pipeline access.

Three appeals court judges heard 33 minutes of oral arguments in the continuing fight over survey access in Medina County for the $2 billion Nexus Pipeline. The Akron-based 9th District Court of Appeals will decide the case at sometime in the future, Judge Donna Carr said at the conclusion of the short hearing. About 35 Medina County landowners attended the session.
