Thank you for your continued support of my newsletter. I sincerely enjoy bringing them to you every month.

Many thousands of years ago, humans realized that living alone wasn't the best option to survive in a harsh world. They were up against consistent threats, and forming a community increased their odds of survival.

Communities consisted of hunters, gatherers, warriors etc., which allowed all the necessary jobs to be carried out. Humans came to realize our strength in numbers.

We certainly don't have all the answers alone, and combining talents and diverse perspectives offers greater opportunity. Unfortunately, in the microbial world this is also the case, and this is the focus for this months newsletter.

Healthfully yours,
Dr. Louis Granirer

Biofilms and Chronic Disease

In the microbial world many bacteria, parasites, fungus, yeast, protozoa, amoebas etc.. have to figure out ways to outwit and out last the human immune system.

A vast majority of bacteria and microorganisms have evolved into communities called biofilms.

A biofilm is a negatively charged group of cells that attach to each other and extracellular substances like toxins, minerals, heavy metals, microbes, polysaccharides, and fibrin. The biofilm acts like a protective force field shielding pathogens from attack from the immune cells. Many different types of microbes can link together in a biofilm and are strengthened with greater numbers. Biofilms act as a nutritional source for these microbes so they can thrive in this environment.

The biofilm is very protective against most antimicrobial agents, including antibiotics, which is why many infections can become chronic. Antibiotics may weaken some of the bacteria, but the persistent bacteria in the biofilm can outlast most antibiotics. This is why diseases like Lyme Disease can become chronic, because the biofilm is protecting some of the spirochetes. A person may take antibiotics for six weeks and this may temporarily weaken and kill some of the spirochetes, but many remain in the biofilm and reemerge.

The phenomenon called quorum sensing is the way in which these pathogens communicate with each other in the biofilm. Chemical messages are sent out that allow   microorganisms to recognize and join up with other microorganisms. There is an inherent intelligence that is not fully understood yet. These organisms main objective is to survive, so they have evolved to figure out the best way to do it, with the help of each other. The bad guys basically come together and put in their two cents.

Dental plaque is a good example of a biofilm. The plaque is composed of salivary polymers, bacterial extracellular compounds and mainly the streptococcus species of bacteria. The accumulation of the bacteria in the plaque and biofilm results in periodontal disease.

A large percentage of bodily infections have been found to contain biofilms. Some of these include chronic sinusitis, urinary tract infections, cholera, ear infections, lymes disease, cystic fibrosis, and endocarditis.

Supreme nutrition has developed two powerful biofilm degraders that not only degrade the biofilm, so the immune system can destroy the microbes, but also act as anti-microbials to eradicate the microbes. They have been very effective in combination with other anti-microbials to combat tough persistent infections. Some of the oils found to be effective against biofilms include boswellia carterii, piper nigrum, thymus vulgaris, eucalyptus globules, origanum compactum benth, and rosmarinus officianalis.

Using Applied Kinesiological muscle, reflex and autonomic nervous system testing, a biofilm homeopathic vial may test for a patient. This confirms that a patient has a biofilm associated with their present infection. Testing the different biofilm degraders to reveal which one will change the abnormal reflex is the indicator of what should be used for the patient.

Many substances that are presently used for biofilm degradation may degrade the biofilm but not kill the pathogens. The bacteria end up migrating to different parts of the body and can result in severe detoxification reactions. The proper way to eradicate biofilms and the pathogens associated with them are by using proper antimicrobials that also change the abnormal reflex response and using drainage and endotoxin binders.

In certain instances, biofilms can actually get stronger with certain fats in the diet. Even good fats can be a problem, as they may strengthen the biofilm. It is important to test to see if fats need to be eliminated.

When going through a biofilm protocol or antimicrobial protocol, many people should not be taking vitamins or minerals. Vitamins or minerals can strengthen our immune systems but also can strengthen the microorganism and biofilms. For example, fungus is strengthened and fed by b vitamins. Even though b vitamins may be helping one part of the body, it may be feeding the underlying cause of the problem to begin with.

Unfortunately, modern medicine does not have an answer for dealing with biofilms and eradicating many microorganisms effectively, other than antibiotics, which can lead to other problems.

Thankfully, applied kinesiology and muscle testing allows us to figure out what natural supplements can break through the biofilm and provide solutions for chronic infections.
