Thank you for your continued support of my newsletter. I sincerely enjoy bringing them to you every month.

Have you ever had a trauma or injury to an area of the body and like clockwork, it reemerges time and time again? Sometimes, this may happen from a seemingly low stressor that re aggravates a previous injury.

Low back pain or ankle injuries are probably the most common injuries in the general population that reemerge or become chronic. Why when we think something is healed and the pain is gone, can it rear its ugly head over and over again. This month, I would like to introduce you to Injury Recall Technique

Healthfully yours,
Dr. Louis Granirer

Why Do Certain Injuries Keep Coming Back to Haunt Us?

When an area in the body is injured the brain sends signals to the body to begin healing processes for the injured area. Specifically, there is an increase in blood flow, plasma and leukocytes from the blood to the injured area, which brings about the inflammatory response.

The nerves around the area have an increased sensitivity, which is a reminder that the area is healing and needs to be left alone. The brain and subconscious minds are the true referees that decide whether an area is healed or not.

For whatever reason, sometimes the brain and subconscious minds keep mapping an area as injured, even if the tissue has healed.  Many patients will take diagnostic tests, such as MRIs and x-rays, and they will be negative for any abnormality or injury. The brain and subconscious mind's lack of computing that an area is actually okay may be the reason for some of these negative diagnostic findings. The brain may still send signals to the injured area to keep the pain receptors and sensory nerve endings active, even though the area is actually better.

Injury Recall Technique

Injury recall technique is a simple but very effective tool that allows the brain to get the message that an injury has been cleared. It allows the body to fully heal a previously injured area and completely restore its normal function. The injury recall technique may involve movement of the talus bone, which is part of the ankle. The ankle has many proprioceptive nerve endings. Proprioceptive nerve endings transmit information to the brain, concerning where the joints are relative to space around the joint.

It is an important mechanism for balance, how we walk, and how we interact with the space around us. IRT (injury recall technique) may also involve movement of the head into extension and flexion, or a visualization technique, which tricks the brain into changing its long held patterns. IRT is a great technique that is relatively simple to perform, and has long standing and permanent effects on the body.

A Case Study

Carolyn had been having neck pain for 16 years, after a car accident in which her head hit the steering wheel. She had tried physical therapy, drugs, and had been to many other chiropractors, but she indicated that the pain would always return and never completely go away.  She indicated that at certain times of severe stress, her pain would be at its worst. An in depth applied kinesiological analysis of her body, revealed that her brain was still in a chronic loop of injury concerning her neck. The brain was not able to neurologically connect the dots that the injury should heal completely.

I performed the injury recall technique on her three times, and also performed neurolymphatic reflex work, neurovascular reflex point work, and specific gentle adjustments for her entire structure.

Carolyn reported remarkable improvement over a six week period at which point she had to move to Florida for a new job. Three and a half years later, she referred her former Pilates instructor to me. I asked her Pilates instructor how Carolyn was doing, and she told me that Carolyn was doing fantastic. Carolyn had zero neck pain, since her last visit with me three and a half years ago.

She said that she finally had the long term relief that she had hoped for. Her faulty neurological response was corrected with injury recall technique, which allowed her neck to fully heal. Carolyn quit her job and is training to become a yoga instructor, which she couldn't have dreamed of doing having chronic neck pain.

Injury recall technique allows for my patients to hold their adjustments longer, heal chronic injuries, and allows for much less treatments to be needed to heal injuries. This technique helps with ongoing joint pain, balance problems, poor posture, improving athletic performance, and the resolution of many musculoskeletal problems in the body.

Please contact me, if you would like to schedule an appointment to heal a chronic injury or problem, using the injury recall technique.
