HUD ANNOUNCES NEW RENEWABLE ENERGY PARTNERSHIPS

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that 27 affordable housing providers and service providers across the nation have committed to installing more than 150 megawatts of on-site renewable energy, more than doubling the amount of renewable energy on HUD-assisted multifamily buildings.

 

IAQA ISSUES CALL FOR PAPERS FOR 18TH ANNUAL MEETING

IAQA has issued a Call for Papers for its 18th Annual Meeting, to be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, TX from March 16 - 18, 2015. Presentations are specifically requested on: IAQ assessment strategies; moisture measurement in materials; interpretation of laboratory analytical results; principles of developing a sample strategy; methods and best practices for IAQ contractors; building sciences; and, interaction with other professionals on multidisciplinary teams. Presentations are also welcome on other topics related to indoor environments, including business management topics. The deadline for Call for Papers submittals is July 1, 2014. NADCA ISSUES CALL FOR PAPERS

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) has initiated a Call for Papers for individuals who are interested in presenting at the 2015 NADCA Annual Meeting and wish to submit a paper for consideration by the association's Annual Meeting Committee. The 2015 NADCA Annual Meeting will be held April 27-29, 2015 in Marco Island, Florida. Submissions are due by Friday, May 30, 2014 and must be submitted via a NADCA submission form.

 

NATIONAL COLLEGE COMPETITION SAVES 3 MILLION POUNDS CO2

Lucid, the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the National Wildlife Federation and the Alliance to Save Energy announce that more than 265,000 students at 109 colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada collectively saved over 2.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity - equivalent to averting 3 million pounds of CO2 from the atmosphere and saving $196,000 through the Campus Conservation Nationals 2014 (CCN) contest. This year, students also saved nearly 476,000 gallons of water, or the equivalent of 1.8 million water bottles.

EXCESSIVE RADON DETECTED IN WILTON HIGH SCHOOL'S ATHLETIC OFFICE

The radon level in Wilton High School's athletic director's office exceeds the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s recommended radon exposure limit of 4.0 picocuries per liter of air (pCi/L), according to radon test results the Wilton School District received on May 7.
