Asking for money is tough even when you believe in your cause! These tips will help you stay focused during your pitch.
1. Research Your Donors
You want them to say, "Wow, it's like they read my mind!"
2.Practice the Art of Conversation
Then, practice some more.
3. Never Surprise Them
If your potential donor is ever surprised you're asking them for money, something is deeply amiss.
4. Stop. Being. Boring.
An engaged audience is what we're looking for.
5. Ask for Advice
This makes the donor feel valued, which they are!
6. Be Silent
You'll be amazed what you learn if you just let them speak!
7. Be Specific
You know what the need is, don't make them figure it out.
