Thoughts from the Festival Volunteer Coordinator:

"As I crawled into bed last night, tired and satisfied, I thanked God for the Wonderful Volunteers at Saint Leo's. Everyone stepped up and made this a very successful and hopefully fun festival. Volunteers were happy to be there and it showed. We had a problem most organizations would love to have ... we had too many happy volunteers! I want to thank everyone who made a change and worked together. The numbers have not been finalized yet, but we are sure it was a great weekend. None of it would be possible without each of you. Give yourselves a big hand. You deserve it. Again, THANK YOU."

and Sue Corasaniti, Volunteer Coordinator

BANALITA' (trivia)

The art of street painting is an event that originated in Italy and is a tradition that dates back to the 16th century. Historically, i madonnari (Madonna painters) were wandering artists who traveled village to village to earn their livelihood at various festivals and on the various holy days celebrated in Italy. The artists often depicted images of the Madonna in their paintings, thus earning the name madonnari. Such a festival was first introduced in America in Santa Barbara, California in the 1980s.

"Always enjoy reading your Friday night movie selections, but I was wondering if you've ever screened ... or plan to screen ... one of my favorite movies from the early seventies, Lovers and Other Strangers. I still remember the raucous laughter in my local movie theatre in Queens while watching it, as well as some of my favorite lines, such as Richard Castellano saying, 'So what's the story?' and telling Bea Arthur (Maude), 'I hate veiny veal' (which I'm sure no diner has ever gotten in Baltimore). Have a good, and more importantly, safe summer." ~ Jim Vespe
