"Just read the latest edition of Neighborhood News about the POWs. The photo submitted by Joe Ribero is great. I, too, knew all of those men; and Joe and his sisters, Anita and Margaretta Riberio, and Signora Rosa. My father, Armando Ravera, also a POW at Fort Meade, married an Italian-American woman, Paulina Anello, from Baltimore. They married in Italy and he returned to Baltimore to later become a bricklayer. My father was good friends with all of them, as well as Guy Sardella, throughout the years until they all passed away. There were many, many visits over the years to each other's homes, with war stories, great food and good homemade vino. My grandparents Maria and Antonio Anello were married at Saint Leo's and lived in Little Italy before moving to 20th & Robb Streets. My grandfather sold fruit at the Belair market.
