BRAVO! Promotion Center for Little Italy granted 501(c)(3) status

Buon notizie! Promotion Center for Little Italy, Baltimore, established three years ago in January 2010, is pleased to announce that it has been granted tax-exempt status from the IRS under section 501(c)(3). Contributions are now tax-deductible. Promotion Center is further classified as a public charity. An application was filed in March 2012 and a letter from the IRS received several days before Christmas. Promotion Center for Little Italy is operated from a home office by its pro bono director, Suzanna Molino, and supported by an 10-person board.

Its mission is to support through consistent communications and promotion, the nonprofit components of Little Italy (parish, lodge, bocce leagues, learning center) and to promote The Neighborhood in general (businesses, events, people, community organizations).

Promotion Center maintains content on LittleItalyMD.com, PromotionCenterforLittleItaly.org, produces this newsletter, produces the Little Italy walking map, and other printed promotional materials and souvenirs that help to keep Little Italy in the Baltimore limelight.

LITTLE ITALY LODGE OFFERS SCHOLARSHIP

The La Famiglia Scholarship Committee announces that financial aid in the amount of $12,000 will be awarded for the Fall 2013 semester competition. Awards will be made to four recipients in increments of $5,000; $3,000 and $2,000 (two). Applications are available in the Lodge at the Information Center, may be requested by email (littleitalylodge@gmail.com) or downloaded from littleitalylodge-osia.org. Eligibility to apply: Lodge members and their spouses, children and grandchildren planning to attend an accredited college or university in the US. High school seniors and students currently enrolled in college are encouraged to apply. The Committee judges applicants based on grade point average (minimum 2.5), financial need, community service, and written essay.

NURSERY BIBLE SCHOOL OFFERED AT ST. LEO'S  

Did you know that during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday St. Leo's Mass, a Nursery Bible School is held each week? Drop off children before Mass in the church hall. Coordinator is Becky Woodward.  

 

CONGRATS DOC! 

St. Leo's Deacon Kevin Bagley received his Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Catholic University. Many congratulations, Deacon! 

 

MAMMA MIA, that's lotsa pasta! 

Grazie, pasta lovers! You helped us reach our sales goal by purchasing almost $1,000 in pasta in our online Fun Pasta fundraiser in December. The nonprofit Promotion Center for Little Italy earned 40% of those sales for a profit of $383.60. Mangia bene!
