The Quilt Show is 6 weeks away! It begins on Wednesday, Sept 30 and ends on Saturday, October 3rd. We hope you all are working on putting the finishing touches on the quilts you entered.

The raffle quilt is "Petals and Pennies", a quilt adapted from a Lisa Bongean, Primitive Gatherings pattern of the same name. We passed out tickets at the July meeting. If you did not receive any or would like more, we will have those available at the August & September meetings, and at the quilt show. Tickets are $1 a piece or 6 for $5.



Please remember that all quilts entered in the show must have a 4" sleeve affixed to the back of the quilt.  If the quilt is greater than 90" long, the top of the sleeve should be 90" from the bottom of the quilt.
The entry tag that was generated when you entered the quilt should be in a plastic sandwich bag, and affixed with 2 safety pins to lower right hand corner of the back of the quilt.  Each quilt should be placed in a pillow case. Pillow cases will be available at the August and September meetings.

If your quilt(s) is judged, please drop off your quilt(s) beginning Saturday, September 19 and no later than Thursday, September 24th to Creekside Quilting, 9926 Swanson Blvd, Clive.  If you have entered a non judged quilt(s), please drop it off at The Quilt Block, 325 5th St, W Des Moines, beginning Saturday, September 19, and no later than Saturday, September 26th.

How would you like to get in free to the Quilt Show? You can do so by volunteering at the show. All volunteers get in free the day they volunteer. If you volunteer for hanging you can choose your free day.  We have over 450 volunteer opportunities.  Please click this link to be directed to Volunteer Spot where you can see what fits into your schedule. At the August Women's Health Auction, we will have a Gift Shop along side the Mall in the Hall.  The Mall in the Hall is a quilter's garage sale.  Start collecting items to bring to sell.  Books, tools, fabric, or anything that can be sold to make a successful sale for the Health Charities that we support.  (No magazines please )

The Gift Shop will be a new section of Mall in the Hall.  The Gift Shop will feature completed items that will be suitable for gifting to family or friends. Items will be priced from $1 to $50. We need your help. Please make items for us to sell.

or anything else you like to make that one would find in a gift shop.

Please bring your gift shop items to the July general meeting or between 1-4:30, August 25th (the day of the auction).  General Mall in the Hall items can be dropped off the day of the sale (August 25th-- between 1-4:30.)  We will price the times and the sale will begin at 5 o'clock.

A Coffee and Treat Shop will be open between 3-5 so you can relax and enjoy talking with friends while waiting for the really big sale to begin. Then, be sure to shop for that special gift while shopping Mall in the Hall.

Another great month as we checked in 22 completed quilts, 4 pieced tops, 50 placemats 4 receiving blankets and 9 pillowcases.  We checked out 8 pillowcase kits, 5 quilt kits to pieces, 14 quilts to be quilted and 1 quilt to bind.We had 3 pieced backs and a large amount of batting scraps donated.

Meredith Publishing has donated 18 quilt tops. We found enough pieces of coordinating fabric for the bindings but we need fabric pieces for backings. Each quilt requires 3 ¾ to 4 yards. We need mostly bright colors: orange, turquoise, yellow, lime, green, pink, gold, red, black/white, a medium tan, mint green, light pink and light blue.  

HEADS UP NOTICE:  We will be present at August auction to collect any projects that you have finished. We will not have any projects to check out. Also thank you for the batting pieces donated from our long armers. Right now we have enough but we will send out the call again in the future.
