Newcomers
Welcome 2015 Newcomers

The Newcomers group was formed in 1999 for the purpose of allowing new guild members to learn more about how the Guild functions, to meet other members in an informal setting, and to help with the formation of small groups. Newcomers meetings are open to new guild members who have joined within the last year.

The meetings are held the THIRD TUESDAY of each month from January through October at 6:30 PM. We meet at the Urbandale Library, 3520 86th Street, in Room B. Meetings are hosting by the DMAQG Vice-President for year. This year your host is Joyce Moore, 2015 Vice President.

Please join us on January 20, 2015 to hear from our DMAQG 2015 President, Karen Macon. Karen will also present a program on the many fabulous bags she has created. Besides getting to know each other better, we will have a Show-and-Tell segment so bring something you want to brag about.

Please note: The library does not allow food or drink in the meeting room. Thank you!

Program Chairs' Note
The mission of the Des Moines Area Quilters Guild is to stimulate an interest in quilts and quilt making, educate its members, provide for the inter-change of information, and encourage community giving. (Adopted - October 8, 2012). We think that the 2015 programs and workshops will stimulate your interest and allow you to acquire some new skills and tools to make your quilting journey more enjoyable. We also hope that attending a workshop will allow you to meet other quilters from DMAQG and learn from each other.

Remember that both the meetings and the workshops will be held at the West Des Moines Christian Church, 4501 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines. Directions to the church are on the DMAQG website under the Programs tab.

There are still spaces available in all of the workshops for 2015. There are two registration options available on our website [click here]: Download a pdf, print & mail your completed form and payment to Martha Henrichs, 5730 Allison Ave., Des Moines, IA  50310. You can also register on line and then mail your payment to Martha.

Please email or call Martha Henrichs (mjhenrichs@aol.com; 277-2357) or Kathy Russi (KWRussi@aol.com; 333-1764) if you have any questions.

Ideas for Organizing Your Sewing Rooms and Quilting Projects

Presented by Kathy Russi & Martha Henrichs
1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Guild Meetings

With January come New Year's resolutions. Frequently these resolutions include commitments to finish projects, better organize our sewing spaces, and to maximize our quilting time and efficiency. At the January meetings, Martha Henrichs and Kathy Russi will talk about organization of our workspaces and offer suggestions for tackling that UFO list. We will have photos of members' sewing spaces with their ideas for how they organize.

■ Name tag (required to win a door prize)

■ Membership renewal form &/or Workshop registration
■ Items for show and tell
