Newcomers
Newcomers Meeting

One of the best ways to get to know the DMAQG is to serve on the Board. I know it has been a great experience for me!  It has been a rewarding opportunity to meet people, as well as impact our community.  Please consider a position on the 2015 DMAQG Board.  Most positions are a co-chair situation, so you can gain experience from others.  For more information, please contact me!

Many thanks to Deanna Wilson and Kathy Anderson for hosting the August Newcomers meeting.  They did it all!  They represented the Board as the Quilt Show Chairs, then presented the program on "Hanging Sleeves and Labels."  Next month, Terry Holt will speak about the Retreat Committee, and Missy Carpenter will teach us about Wool Appliqué.  Join us Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Urbandale Library, Room B.

Newcomers is open to all members who have joined the Guild within the past year.  It's a great opportunity to meet people and learn about the Guild.

I am looking forward to seeing you there!

Guild Programs & Workshops

September's speaker is Linda Augsburg, the new editor of American Patchwork and Quilting. She is waving the speaker fee in lieu of donations of pillowcases for the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge.  Please show Linda that we are up to helping her meet the pillowcase challenge.  Reminder - there are no workshops in September.

October is our own wonderful and very entertaining JoAnn Belling.  JoAnn's class on Wednesday, October 28, is "Dazzling Carsidium", a very unique and beautifully pieced flower.  Her Thursday class is called "Stars Galore".

We still have room in our October classes.  Please contact us to reserve your space.

See you at Guild!

Special
Special Group Meetings

These small groups welcome any member of the Des Moines Area Quilters Guild who wants to drop in at as many or as few of their meetings as one would like.
TAG: The Appliqué Group

The Appliqué Group meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Quilt Block at 10:00 a.m. Anyone interested in hand or machine appliqué is welcome. We are a very informal group, and usually talk and sew and then have show and tell. Some go to The General Store Eatery after the meeting for lunch. This is a great meeting for people who want to learn more because we have a good range of appliqué-ers from new to very experienced.

If you have any questions, please contact Donna Horn at donnasartquilts@msn.com.
1800s Quilt Study Group

The 1800's Quilt Study Group will not be meeting until further notice.
