Newcomers
Newcomers Meeting

The Newcomers Group is up and running for 2014!  Seven new members attended our January meeting.  We are inviting you to join us at our next meeting on February 18th.

Newcomers was formed for the purpose of allowing new members to learn how the Guild functions, to meet other new members in a small setting, and hopefully form or join a small group.  Newcomers is open to members who have belonged to the Guild for less than one year.

We meet the third Tuesday of the month at the Urbandale Library, Room B at 6:30 p.m.  Our February 18th meeting will feature Board member, Terry Holt, Retreat Committee Chair, who will speak about the Spring Retreat.  Martha Henrich will present a program on the fun process of "Quilt As You Go".  Don't forget to bring your Show-N-Tell.

A quick reminder - the library does not allow food or drink in the meeting rooms.

I look forward to see you on the 18th!

Guild Programs & Workshops

Our first group of workshops for the year could not have been better.  All of Dawn Cavanaugh's classes were full and many commented on how much they learned.  Thanks to all who made our January workshops a success!

Many of you have been asking about February's workshops.  There will be 2 half-day sessions, each session consisting of 3 mini classes.  We will be utilizing the talents of our very own DMAQG members to serve as instructors for our February workshops.  Workshop participants will be arranged in 3 groups, with the instructors rotating from group to group to share their insights and talent.  The cost of each session is $10.00, so you are getting each class at the bargain price of $3.33!  This is a chance to practice a few skills or learn new techniques.  Most importantly, we'll be having a fun day!  Remember, you do not need to take both sessions, although each session offers a different set of classes.

We continue to be thrilled with the response we have received to our 2014 slate of speakers.  Some classes are filled, while several others are nearly full.  Needless to say, all classes are quickly filling, so please don't delay in signing up for any class you are thinking of taking.  Wait lists will be kept for filled classes and spaces usually become available at the last minute.  If you'd like to be placed on the wait list for any class, please contact Ann Reed, 515-276-6005.

Let's continue to make 2014 a fun-filled year of learning!

TAG: The Appliqué Group

The Appliqué Group meets the third Tuesday of every month at the Quilt Block at 10:00 a.m. Anyone interested in hand or machine appliqué is welcome. This is a great meeting for people who want to learn more because we have a good range of appliqué-ers from new to very experienced.
