Three Eggs on the Blackwater Osprey Cam

2013 Blackwater NWR Ospreys Hatching Possible Around June 13
Our osprey couple on the Blackwater NWR Osprey Cam got a late start to the season this year (we might have a newbie parent), but they did give us three eggs. We expect hatching to start around June 13, so be sure to visit the Osprey Cam page to follow the action.
Eaglets Flying on Eagle Cam

Talon and Soar Fledge
Blackwater NWR Eagle Cam We have two eaglets on the Blackwater NWR Eagle Cam this year and we recently had a winner in our Eaglet-Naming Contest -- Angel Walker -- who gave our chicks the wonderful names of Talon and Soar. We believe both eaglets have safely taken their first flight now, although they still hang around the nest to rest and get free meals from the parents. You can see the eagle family on our Eagle Cam page.
Wild Goose Chase Ride October 12-13, 2013

Wild Goose Chase Still Time to Sign Up

You're invited to join Georgena Terry, along with hundreds of other active women bicyclists, for the 6th Annual Wild Goose Chase. This year's event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13.

The Wild Goose Chase, a bicycle weekend for women, is based in Cambridge on Maryland's scenic Eastern Shore, with all rides taking place in and around Blackwater NWR. Established as a fundraiser to help protect the Refuge, the Wild Goose Chase has generated more than $134,000 for the Friends of Blackwater. Your participation in the 2013 event will help the Friends of Blackwater continue to protect this critical habitat. Visit the Wild Goose Chase event page to learn more.
