Let's Fill the Food Basket! Your Social Justice Committee asks that we bring non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for the food basket this Sunday, to be donated to the Huntsville Assistance Program. (Baskets are located in the Foyer and in the Fellowship Hall.)
Our Goal: 100 Food Items per month!
So please check your pantry, and/or pick up an extra item on your next shopping trip. Suggested donations: macaroni and cheese, pasta and sauce, dry beans and rice, boxes of cereal, bars of soap, canned meat, and peanut butter!
Also toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary napkins and tampons, shampoo and conditioner...you get the idea!
Thanks in advance!

"Meeting the Challenge of Our Stressful Times"
Chaplain Frederick Woods
"The ethic of gratitude calls us to serve a broken and needy world. Can we nurture in return the people, the institutions, and the natural world that makes our lives possible, livable, and wonderful? We all are invited to be on a journey of discovery. I encourage you to come along and see what you might find in faith."
Ch. Woods has worked in interfaith ministry as a chaplain for over 10 years, and currently serves at Crestwood Hospital. He is also a certified addictions and behavioral health counselor. He has 20 years of experience as a youth minister, instructor, facilitator, senior pastor, church planter-coach, and global mission counselor.

Care List
At our Circle of Candles on Sunday, July 3rd, candles were lit for:
LaDawn Edwards, a candle of concern: "A friend's boyfriend was laid off on Friday. At 52 he is concerned that Huntsville's economy cannot absorb the 350 engineers and office workers who will be looking. I'm wishing hope and peace to all who wonder if the future is secure." Debbie Carswell, a candle of gratitude: "We've just hit the one-year anniversary of Bailey's passing. I just don't know what I would have done without the generous efforts of the church this time last year. Y'all took such good care of me...and of Bailey. Love each and every one of you." Kirsten and Josh Clark, a candle of joy: "We are so happy to find out via ultrasound that we are adding another boy to our family! Everett Bloom is due to arrive in late October or early November. He is healthy and growing just as he should." Mari Hinckley, a candle of joy: "I quit smoking! It will be two weeks on Wednesday since I had my last cigarette."
If you have pastoral care needs, please contact the Reverend Alice Syltie at revaluu@gmail.com. Barbara Hitt is Chair of the Care Committee, and may be reached at home, (256) 881.2531; on her cell, (256) 348.5845; or by email at bghitt1@comcast.net.
