Remember the Food Basket!
Your Social Justice Committee asks that we bring non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for the food basket this Sunday, to be donated to the Huntsville Assistance Program. (Baskets are located in the Foyer and in the Fellowship Hall.)
Our Goal: 100 Food Items per month!
So please check your pantry, and/or pick up an extra item on your next shopping trip. Suggested donations: macaroni and cheese, pasta and sauce, dry beans and rice, boxes of cereal, bars of soap, canned meat, and peanut butter!
Also toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary napkins and tampons, shampoo and conditioner...you get the idea!
Thanks in advance!

"For the Love of the Earth"
Ken Sizemore

This Sunday, folk singer and fellow Unitarian Universalist Ken Sizemore will present a musical service that offers reflections on our seventh principle, respect for the interdependent web of all existence. Ken will perform songs that celebrate some of the most beautiful and precious places and regions on the planet, from your own backyard to the world's mountains, oceans, and deserts. Ken will also play for us some "laments" that express our sorrow and concern at the poor treatment we have too often inflicted upon our home planet.
This Sunday in Children and Youth Religious Education

Our summer program continues with two super sessions! Campfire songs with Deedee Moore and Laurie Keller, and the beginning of our Playground Mural with Kristy From-Brown. Children and youth will have the opportunity to participate in both activities.

Childcare for children age 3 and under will be provided as usual.

For the summer months, we are recruiting volunteers to share their interests, skills, and hobbies with our RE program! For more about this opportunity, contact our Religious Education Director, Erin Reid.

Questions about Religious Education at UUCH may be directed to Erin Reid, our Director of Religious Education (DRE) (256.694.6786 or [email protected]). Register online for the UUCH Children and Youth RE Program at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WS8LDNP.
UUCH at Pride Celebration
We are proud that over 50 UUCH folks turned out in support of the LGBTQ community and marched to show our dedication to equal rights for all. While the Pride event is a celebration, this year we both celebrated for and attended a memorial for victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub tragedy. Carrying the names of these 49 people, UUCH walked and rode the parade route in style with a beautiful (and accessible) float.

We also had a well-attended booth to provide information, make ribbon streamers, paint faces and share with others personal meanings of Pride. With the mob of yellow shirts, the float, and the booth UUCH once again proclaimed "We Stand on the Side of Love!"

Thanks to all of you who participated and especially to UUCH Interweave for all the hard work in organizing.

Denise Runnels, a candle of Joy: "I'd like to thank all of those who showed up at the Rocket City Pride event yesterday. Our church was truly represented by the more than 50 people who walked or rode in the parade. I also thank all of those who put in so much sweat equity in time to build the float that not only allowed more of us to participate, but also help give UUCH visibility that announced loud and clear we are welcoming and standing on the side of love."

Barbara Hitt for the Care Committee--

A candle of concern and gratitude: "Gina Rittenberg has been in the intensive care unit at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for over two weeks. A candle of gratitude: "Kathy Fisher is recovering from rotator cuff surgery and has asked me to thank the Care Committee for the beautiful care shawl from the Knit Wits, and for all of our thoughts, prayers, and concern on her behalf."
