Our Goal: 100 Food Items per month!

Also toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary napkins and tampons, shampoo and conditioner...you get the idea!
Thanks in advance!

"The Seven UU Principles:
More Than Pretty Words"
Presented by Interweave

We, as Unitarian Universalists, affirm and promote seven principles, including the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equity and compassion in human relations; and acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregation. It is easy to agree to affirm and promote these principles. After all, they just make good sense. But can we truly have compassion if we don't understand what is calling for that compassion?  Can we be even more affirming of the dignity of every person when we are conscious of their lived experiences? Join us Sunday as Interweave and the Worship Committee provide encouragement to spiritual growth, calling for compassion in our human relations, specifically relations with the trans* community.

UUCH's Interweave is an Outreach Group for self-identified lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) persons. Together with our friends and allies we are dedicated to the spiritual, political, and social well-being of UUs who are confronting oppression associated with their LGBTQ status. We follow the UUA's Interweave lead and facilitate the celebration of the culture and lives of our members.

Children and Youth Summer RE:
We Need YOU!

In the summer months, the Children and Youth Religious Education Program takes a special turn from the regular fall and spring curricula. We invite UUCH members and friends to plan a class session for the children and youth. You'll be part of a teaching team as either the lead teacher or a helper; and we'll be sure to have a regular RE teacher there as support. Even children and youth can partner with an adult to lead a session! SummerRE

We invite YOU to sign up to lead a session that shares a special talent, hobby, skill, or learning area of yours

We have posters standing in the church foyer and fellowship hall where you can sign up for a summer Sunday session. Or, you can contact Erin Reid, Director of Religious Education, at eereid@hotmail.com

votives Care List

At our Circle of Candles on Sunday,  June 5th, candles were lit for:

The Aycock family, a candle of joy: "The Aycocks would like to happily announce we have legally adopted and are full parents to August James Aycock last Tuesday. We are blessed for the support from everyone! We love him even in his terrible two's!"

Rev. Alice, a candle of concern: "A candle for Lydia Goodman, who will have surgery this week."

Todd Hunter-Gilbert, a candle of sorrow: "Prayers for the victims of violence at political rallies."

Vickie Goodman, a candle of joy: "Harper left at 6:00 a.m. this morning, flying to San Antonio to attend the UUA 'Meaning Makers' retreat for UU college students. This is a year-long leadership /mentoring program designed to keep our young people involved in Unitarian Universalism. She discovered and initiated this process all on her own. Thanks to Erin Reid for her letter of recommendation."

Bette Goodman, a candle of gratitude: "I feel so blessed and grateful to be part of this loving congregation--the Care committee and especially Audrey Fox--who made a beautiful blanket for Avery, very soft and snuggly, embroidered with 'In loving memory of my mom'."

Jeanne deFrance, a candle of joy: "My deep and heartfelt thanks to my co-members of the accessibility task force: Gloria Guay, Laurie Keller, Sally Locklear, Deedee Moore, Nancy Stetson, and Jefflyn Weed. Together we completed the 300-plus line item UUA accessibility audit. It was a true joy to get to know each of you a little better and to experience your intelligence, compassion, and dedication to our church."

John Jeter, a candle of joy: "On Saturday, June 11th, Derelene and I will celebrate our Fiftieth (50th) wedding anniversary!"

Cheri Smith, a candle of joy: "My great-grandson, Thiago Zeke Alonso, was born June 2nd. So happy for his parents--my granddaughter Alyssa, and Diego."

John Czachurski, a candle of sorrow: "For my wife Anita and her larger family. This week we learned of the death of her uncle, Aaron Walker. He was a bit of a recluse, so now she and her cousins--his nieces and nephews--are coming together to deal with his affairs while they recall his life and grieve his passing."

Tarleton Brooks, a candle of sorrow: "My brother, Dale Reynolds, 59, died Wednesday, June 1st, after a brave battle with cancer. Dale loved to dance."

LaDawn Edwards, a candle of sorrow: "Please light a candle for Mohammad Ali, who died yesterday."
