Together Again!
Chocolate and coffee...mmmm mmm good! If you are a coffee connoisseur, the Social Justice Committee invites you to visit the coffee table in the Fellowship Hall--where delicious, Fair Trade chocolate is sold--to order your Certified Fair Trade and Organic coffee from the Kaffeeklatsch. Provide your name, contact info, type of coffee, grind, and amount you want, and deliveries will be made the following Sunday (unless you arrange otherwise). Should you not make it that next Sunday the coffee will go into the church kitchen's freezer with your name on it. All profits go in support of our Social Justice efforts.

We CAN Reach 100!
The Social Justice Committee's goal is to collect and donate 100 items per month. CAN you pick up an extra CANNED good, nonperishable food item, or personal care product next time you are out shopping? Please do, and put it in the basket in the church foyer to be donated to the Huntsville Assistance Program (HAP).
HAP is an interfaith network of Madison County congregations providing volunteers, information, and financial resources to help those in need. HAP focuses on those who need temporary assistance. HAP provides not only food boxes but also assistance with rent/ mortgage and utility bills.

Upcoming Services
Sunday, August 16th, 2015
"Heart Talk for Kids (and the Rest of Us, Too)"
Erin Reid, Director of Religious Education and the Reverend Alice Syltie
How do we create peaceful relationships? Heart Talk for Kids is a Unitarian Universalist program created by Debbie Berkana and Veronica Lassen based on Marshall Rosenberg's model of Compassionate (Nonviolent) Communication. Children and youth, and people of all ages, may grow in our ability to communicate with each other in empathy--to understand and see our common humanity, and from that deep understanding and caring, find mutually satisfying ways of being together. Erin Reid, Director of Religious Education, will consider our Children and Youth Religious Education theme for this year and explore ways we may be empowered in multigenerational community to talk and listen from the heart. This service will include a youth Bridging Ceremony.

"Cuba--Old Cars and Big Cigars"
You are invited to join Bob Weed and Barbara & Gary Hitt on Friday, August 28, 7:00-9:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall at UUCH for a presentation: "Cuba--Old Cars and Big Cigars".
We will be showing a multi-media presentation of our April trip to Cuba. Join us as we share our tour of Cuba with you, from the mountains to the sea, from old Trinidad to the Bay of Pigs to the metropolis of Havana. We enjoyed visiting with school children, talking to families in their homes and on their farms, and seeing artists working in their studios.
We were often serenaded by musical groups as we enjoyed Cuban food, usually served with Vitamin "R" (Rum!). Avid birder Gary added 25 birds to his Life List; Bob chatted in fluent Spanish with the guides; while Barbara tried to capture the ambiance, the people, the merging of old and new Cuba.
Since we are considering our presentation to be an early Service Auction offering, we are asking for a donation of $10 to $20 for adults. Children are welcome at no charge. If needed, we will provide child care. We will provide light refreshments, (but no Vitamin "R").
