We CAN Reach 100!
Huntsville Assistance Program representatives say donations fall off during the summer and they appreciate our steady support! So please check your pantry, and/or pick up an extra item on your next shopping trip. Suggested donations: macaroni and cheese, pasta and sauce, dry beans and rice, boxes of cereal, bars of soap, canned meat, and peanut butter!

"Let the Music Move You"
Our Musical UUs!
Music transports us in ways the spoken word cannot. Our Unitarian Universalist sources include those Jewish and Christian teachings that call on us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and no matter our background, most of us have a positive relationship with the music of old time religion. This Sunday Alli Johnson, Glen Johnson, Tim & Theresa Miller, and other special guests will provide worship through gospel and bluegrass music.

Care List
At our Circle of Candles on Sunday, July 19th, candles were lit for:
Michelle Clark, a candle of sorrow: "Thoughts and prayers for the families of the marines killed in Chattanooga, and for peace and safety for those who live and work on Redstone Arsenal."
Cheri Smith, a candle of joy: "My brother Jeff is at home and receiving rehab there."
Lynne Abbott, a candle of joy: "My one month old granddaughter, Isabelle, was released from the National Children's Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for a week undergoing treatment for heart problems. Please remember her in your prayers."
Michael and Claudia Carson, a candle of joy: "We are so appreciative for all the food and visits from church friends and the Care Committee after our son's birth. We are also happy to have him today for the first time to meet his church family."
The Betts family, a candle of joy: "Happy birthday to Kevin today!"
LaDawn Edwards, a candle of joy: "Wonderful turnout for Saturday's workday. I love tapping in to that same spirit that built our beautiful church, even on such a sultry day."
Brad Korb, a candle of joy: "The Property Committee would like to thank everyone who came out yesterday morning to help organize, weed, de-clutter, repair, and beautify our church home. Despite the heat, more than 30 adults and youth participated in sharing the work of maintaining and improving our building and grounds. We really appreciate all the sweat equity and camaraderie provided for those who voluntarily gave their Saturday morning to UUCH."
Laurie Keller, a candle of joy: "Gaillyn Hope, a former church member, is back in town, and visiting us today."
John and Anita Czachurski, a candle of sorrow: "A candle in memory of Vanessa Turner, who died very unexpectedly this past week. Vanessa was the librarian at Highlands Elementary School in this neighborhood. Anita got to know her when they carpooled to library school classes in Tuscaloosa and while working with other librarians here in the city school system. Vanessa was always cheerful, and we will really miss her."
Kathy Fisher, a candle of sorrow: "Please hold the family of Virginia Washburn in your hearts; she was the mother of some dear friends and passed away Thursday. Also the family of Yolanda Rivera, a colleague and close friend of mine, who also died Thursday. Blessed be."
