Share your Extra
Huntsville Assistance Program representatives say that donations have fallen off and they need our help more than ever, so please check your pantry, and/or pick up an extra item on your next shopping trip. Suggested donations: macaroni and cheese, pasta and sauce, dry beans and rice, boxes of cereal, bars of soap, canned meat, and peanut butter!
Thanks in advance!

"Enough Already"
Amanda Schuber
Growing up in a culture where consumption is king, physically, emotionally, and spiritually we spend countless hours trying to reach that elusive goal of "enough." This week, we'll explore what "enough" really means and if "enough" is really what counts.

Board Report for June 26th, 2015
The Board has developed a procedure for responding to a situation in which a serious (but not apparently violent) disruptive group enters our sanctuary during services, based on an event that occurred last year at the New Orleans UU Church. The procedure assigns responsibilities for congregational response (being led in song), requesting law enforcement presence, video recording of the event, asking the disruptive group to leave, assuring the safety of children, and resuming calm and spiritual presence.
The Board approved Committee chairs for the new 2015-16 Fiscal year:
Property: Brad Korb
Adult RE: Nancy Finley
Finance: Alice Dilbeck
Worship: Nick Wilbourn
Membership: Pam Korb
Children's RE: Jessica Zelaya
Social Justice: Gail Williams and Tonia Betts
Music: Susan Coddington
Care: Barbara Hitt
Technology: Kip Shepherd
There is still a need to fill chairs for Hospitality and Publicity.
Some members are having difficulty in hearing all the presenters at Sunday services. The Board discussed possible solutions, including alerting speakers if they are not being heard and encouraging them to use the microphones correctly.
--Ed Bernstein, Secretary, UUCH Board of Trustees

Care List
At our Circle of Candles on Sunday, July 5th, candles were lit for:
Kathy Fisher, a candle of Sorrow: "My heart breaks for Debbie Carswell in the loss of precious Bailey. And please send positive thoughts and prayers to my piano teacher friend, Kathy Stokes, who suffered fractures to both arm bones yesterday, when her airbag deployed in a minor collision in a parking lot."
Bobby Hall, a candle of Sorrow: "Prayers for Baby Max. Max passed away last Saturday."
Bonnie and Steve Herold, a candle of Joy: "Many of you already heard that our Rachel and husband Robbie are having a baby in mid-November. What we just learned is this: it's a girl!"
If you have pastoral care needs, please contact the
Reverend Alice Syltie at revaluu@aol.com. Barbara Hitt is Chair of the Care Committee, and may be reached at home, (256) 881.2531; on her cell, (256) 348.5845; or by email at bghitt1@comcast.net.
