"Experiencing a Musical Communion""

UUCH Choir & Musicians,

Pam Siegler, Choir Director

In our Unitarian Universalist "living tradition," we draw a diverse array of music from all our sources, selecting not from one established canon or doctrine, but from whatever expresses our shared principles and aspirations. At every opportunity we commune with songs that share our intimate thoughts and feelings, inspire our search for truth and meaning, build beloved community, help each other, and touch and heal the world. The UUCH Choir, instrumentalists, soloists, and our congregation will join together in an experience of musical communion, connecting and nurturing our hearts, spirits, and lives in song

This Sunday in RE

Children and youth may choose either to remain in the sanctuary with their families to join in the non-traditional musical service, or they may participate in their RE activity as usual. This week in RE, teachers will lead games and outdoor fun on the playground.

Nursery care (ages 0-3) will be provided as usual.
For more information, contact Erin Reid, our Director of Religious Education (DRE) (256.694.6786 or eereid@hotmail.com).

standinglove "Standing on the Side of Love" T-Shirt Orders

With Pride Day coming up in June, Adult RE/Interweave is gathering up a bulk order for "Standing On the Side of Love" T-shirts. Normally $20 per shirt, if we order more than 10 they'll be just $16 each. ($18 for sizes 4x & 5x).

Sizes range from tiny kids to 5x adults, so there's one for every body type. If you want to be included in this order, put your name and size on the poster in the fellowship hall, and put your check in the envelope attached to the poster. The church will pay shipping and handling, you just pay $12-18 per shirt, depending on the size. We're taking orders through this Sunday, May 31st, and we plan to have them ready to pick up before Pride Day on June 21st.

Chanting Group Returns for the Summer

Humans all over the world use chanting for worship, mental health, enlightenment, peace, and prosperity. You are invited to meet with Deedee Moore and other voices to see why this practice has universal appeal, and find out what chants, if any, appeal to you.

For the summer months, we will be meeting on the First ohmMonday of each month, at 6:30p.m., in the Adult RE/Library room. (That'll be June 1st, July 6th, and August 3rd.) We'll chant for about an hour, maybe longer if we really get into it! If you already have a chant that is especially meaningful for you, we'd love to share it. Also feel free to bring drums & percussive instruments--it helps us keep a rhythm going! Contact Deedee Moore, at the church office, for more info: uuch@uuch.org.

Summer RE: Sign Up for Fun!

In the summer months, the Children and Youth Religious Education Program takes a special turn from the regular fall and spring curricula. We invite UUCH members and friends to plan a class session for the children and youth. You'll be part of a teaching team as either the lead teacher or a helper, and we'll be sure to have a regular RE teacher there as support. Even children and youth can partner with an adult to lead a session! SummerRE

We invite you to sign up to lead a session that shares a special talent, hobby, skills, or learning area of yours. Here are some topics to get your creative juices flowing: music, finger painting, scrapbooking, nature walks, gardening, yoga, science, paper airplanes, drawing, Lego, origami, fossils, friendship bracelets, mythology, sidewalk chalk, pottery, cookie-making. The possibilities are limitless!! What's a joy to you can be a joy to others.

Leaders will prepare a topic/activity that is adaptable to children ages 4 to 12. Senior high youth are invited to participate as leaders and helpers, or to attend the regular worship service in the sanctuary. Because of our exciting program growth, we'll need even more leaders and helpers this summer than before! So, don't be shy! We have room for the sharing of your gifts. There's nothing like spending time with the children and youth at our church. Their energy, creativity, and intelligence are contagious. And they benefit from interacting with caring adults who make an investment in them. This is what multi-generational community is all about!

For the next month, we'll have a poster standing in the church foyer and fellowship hall where you can sign up for a summer Sunday session. Or, you can contact Erin Reid, Director of Religious Education, at eereid@hotmail.com.
