Remember, Fair Trade products help ensure that:

1) Unjust labor practices, such as child slavery, are not used.

2) Farmers and workers are paid fair wages and have a voice in the organization to which they sell their products.

3) Environmental sustainability is held as an important goal.

Plus, proceeds are used to help fund Social Justice projects!

The weeks before our move to the new church building offer us a time to cherish sweet memories, look toward future possibilities, and come to ever deeper understandings of our identity as Unitarian Universalists. We of all ages are embarking on an adventure together. This service explores and honors our church mission and ministry as seen through the eyes of our youngest members.

Don't Forget--Next Monday, Oct. 27th: Adult RE is Getting Creative

with SoulCollage

Tumbled in a rich living collage, images constantly speak to us: in dreams, through art, and in our interpretation of the everyday world. Join us for an evening of imagery and inspiration as you start building your own personal deck of evocative 5 x 8 cards.

Move from your linear language-based left brain into your creative image-based right brain... even if you have never done art or would not describe yourself as creative! Simply place and glue images you choose from hundreds available.

Jean DeVenney, a trained SoulCollage facilitator from Portland, OR, led a workshop for Eliot Institute: UU Intergenerational Camp this summer. Now she is bringing her cache of images, cards, and tools for this creative workshop that will help us make the most of our UU source that is personal experience. We will meet Monday evening, October 27th, at 6:00 p.m. and create until 8:30 p.m.Ask Denise Runnels ([email protected]) if you have any questions!

Bobby's 30th Annual Nov. 1st Party!

After a busy day of packing at Governors or painting at Broadmor, come sit a spell, grab a bite to eat, and play your favorite games at Bobby's 30TH Annual First Saturday in November Party! The event will held at the Governors location from 4:00 to 10:00 PM. More information will be forthcoming, or you can contact Bobby Hall at [email protected].

Announcing the

UUCH SERVICE AUCTION 2014

Mark Your Calendar for Saturday, Nov. 15th!

gavel The UUCH Service is a November tradition and this year it will be our first special activity in the new facility on Broadmor Rd. It will be a Bountiful Bash on Broadmor, where you can bid to take home some of the traditional auction items, or maybe some exciting new offering this year. Come and enjoy a fun and exciting evening with your fellow UUs.

And, of course, to have items to auction that night, we need donations from our members and friends. Can you host a specialty event? Do you have a skill or hobby you can share with a class or perform for a few hours for a friend in need? Samples from previous years, in these categories, include Mardi Gras dinner, Geocaching class, and hours of yardwork. Dinners, parties, picnics, and other social events make great donations. Other kinds of services, handmade artwork, clothing, jewelry, and food also make excellent donations.

You have three ways to donate:

Team UUCH Does It Again!

UUs were on the move again at the 11th Annual Liz Hurley Ribbon 5K Run/Walk to benefit Breast Cancer Research.
Thanks to Team UUCH--composed of Denise Runnels, Pam Siegler, Denise and Quinn Hunter-Gilbert, Tim and Theresa Miller, Jefflyn Weed, Bailey Carswell, Anna and Carina Bertone, Nancy Finley, Becky and Abby Ellingwood, and Team Betts--Tonia, Kevin, Sage, Autumn, Rose, and Wren.
See you next year!
Broadmor Briefing
ModChalice

After more than a year, the renovation time at Broadmor is almost over! We only have one more workday--this Saturday, October 25th--to finish getting our new facility ready.

November 1st we'll be packing at the Governor's facility and November 8th we'll be unpacking and setting up at the Broadmor facility!

Thanks to the volunteers who are showing up on Saturday workdays and other days during the week, the facility at Broadmor is really taking shape. Fifteen volunteers showed up last Saturday, and several others are coming throughout the week to help in any way they can. This is a real community effort!

Please join us this Saturday for a final push. There are still many tasks to be done, and jobs for all skill levels. There is painting to do, weeds to be pulled, bulletin boards to be hung, light bulbs to change, furniture to move and cleaning to be done. The Renovation Committee has an evolving list of tasks that can be done individually or in a group.

Additional information about available tasks will be at the work day this Saturday, October 25th, starting at 9:00 a.m. and going until 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. We hope you will consider giving some of your time and effort towards getting our new facility ready!
