"HallelUUjah!"

Sing Praises! Let the Spirit Move You! Music transports us in ways the spoken word cannot. One of the Unitarian Universalist sources is Christianity and no matter our background, most of us have a positive relationship with the music of old time religion. This Sunday Alli Johnson, Glen Johnson, Tim Miller, Howard Williams, and Greg Howard will provide worship through gospel and bluegrass music.
This Sunday in RE: Summer Blast!

3 - 2 - 1 ... Blast Off! Our Children and Youth Summer Religious Education Program continues its flight this Sunday!

Each week, a different church member or friend will pilot a fun adventure with children and youth with an experienced crew of helpers. Look forward to visiting other worlds like Theatre Games, Lego, Collage Making, and more! And make a voyage into our own future with crafts and art projects that will become part of the RE area in our new church home on Planet Broadmor! The journey continues!

ON DECK THIS WEEK: "Meal-Packs for the Homeless," led by Tonia Betts , with Kevin Betts and Meredith Lorge assisting.

Nursery care (ages 0-3) will be provided as usual. For more information, contact Erin Reid, our Director of Religious Education (DRE) (256.694.6786 or eereid@hotmail.com).

Social Justice Meets This Sunday!

justice scales Our next Social Justice meeting will be Sunday, June 29th at 9:30 a.m.  We will set up for meal pack assembly for the homeless by the RE kids, and we will discuss summer activities.  We'll have bagels.  If you need childcare, please let Tonia know at (256) 882-9891.  Everyone is welcome!

In April and May, we fell short of our goal to donate 100 non-perishable food and personal care items to the Huntsville Assistance Program.  Can you pick up an item or two when you shop?  Here are some ideas for supplies that HAP needs a lot of--but any donations are welcome and appreciated!

  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Pasta and Sauce
  • Dry beans and rice
  • Boxes of cereal
  • Bars of soap
  • Canned meat
  • Peanut butter
Thanks in advance! Let's Fill the Basket!
UUCH Newcomers Social on July 12th!
Save the Date!

stained glass chalice If you have visited UUCH several times recently, or have become a member within the past year or so, we hope you will make plans to attend the Newcomers Social to be held on Saturday, July 12th at 6:00 p.m.  This will be a casual evening of fellowship and fun complete with food, drinks and childcare, and will be held at the home of Brad, Pam and Sarah Korb. Also attending will be members of the church Board and others in leadership positions.  We look forward to this social opportunity to get to know you better, and to help you get to know us better too.

More details and invitations will be provided closer to the July 12th date.  Please save the date so we can celebrate you--our new UUCH friends and members!

UUCH Supports Rocket City Pride!

Last Sunday afternoon found a bunch of happy people "Standing on the Side of Love" for Huntsville's Rocket City Pride Celebration. UU's were well represented! Angel Hundley got them all together for this very colorful portrait. Aren't they beautiful?
Broadmor Briefing
ModChalice

A group of volunteers met this past Saturday to continue painting in the RE Wing and to paint the foyer ceiling. Many thanks to Nancy Finley, Gary Hitt, Melissa Horn, Denise Hunter-Gilbert, Brad Korb, and Pam Korb for their efforts towards sprucing up our new facility!

The Renovation Committee and Aesthetics Team met with our architect last week to select hardware and colors for the sanctuary bathrooms including fixtures, floor tiles, wall tiles, stall partitions, and countertops. We also reviewed and approved the RE Wing windows and trim colors. Our contractor, Lee Builders, is now ordering those items for installation in a few weeks.

The carpet for the sanctuary, foyer and balcony was ordered this week and will be installed in July. Then the pews will be re-installed and the sanctuary will be almost finished!

As we get closer to completing contractor activities at Broadmor, we will need lots of volunteer help to add the finishing touches to our new facility. Stay tuned for ways you can help!
