Wednesday, May 29
11:00 am - 12:00 pm Ramp Up Your Resume for Today's Market
Sorry to say ... upon receiving a resume, employers will not call and offer you a job! They might, however, invite you in for an INTERVIEW! That's your goal! Your resume opens the door. It is the carrot you dangle to get noticed and create initial interest in your candidacy! Make sure it is ready to impress and make you memorable!
The process of reviewing and ramping up your resume will allow you to relive the projects you worked on, the group/s you managed and the accomplishments about which you are most proud. Many resumes are watered down versions of what they should/could be. Allow yourself the time and attention to indulge your history, to relish what you have done and to come out the other side with not only a strong resume as your marketing collateral, but an opportunity to have thought through your successes, and feel empowered to confidently discuss and demonstrate your talents!
Presenter: Naomi Koller, FEGS, Career Counselor
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Informational Meeting About the Changes Coming to Connect to Care
Get a better understanding of what Connect to Care will look like going forward. Bring your questions and concerns.
Presenters: Anita Greenwald and Jill Schreibman, Connect to Care at WJCS |

Thursday, May 30
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Making the First Call
These are the calls that everyone hates to make. Whether it's calling a networking contact, or reaching out to a hiring manager the candidate doesn't know-it's those first few seconds of awkwardness that everyone wishes they could avoid. But the truth is that this is one of the best ways to get a foot in the door and get ahead of the pile of resumes in their in-box. Using proven techniques from a sales coach, Melanie will discuss ways to quickly establish rapport and how to get past the gatekeeper to present your case directly to the hiring manager.
Presenter: Melanie Szlucha has over 15 years experience as a hiring manager, and more than 4 years of experience as a job interview coach. See more information about Melanie on her website at www.redinc.biz. In her spare time, Melanie performs improvisation comedy. |

BCW, Westchester Library System to Offer
New Educational Program
About NY's Health Benefit Exchange
The biggest shift in healthcare in a generation is soon upon us. Starting October 1, businesses across New York will be enrolling in the New York Health Benefit Exchange as part of the new federal healthcare program known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It will affect every business from the self-employed to the large corporations that employ thousands across Westchester County.
Navigating these changes poses a challenge for many businesses. With this in mind, the Business Council of Westchester (BCW) is partnering with the Westchester Library System to bring an informational program to local communities. Experts in the new law will be on hand to offer presentations about what can be expected under the ACA and what steps can be taken to strengthen business objectives.
For information about this program, dates and locations for the presentations click here or go to:
