Garbage Rates Increase
Beginning July 1, city residents will pay an additional $1 per month for garbage pick-up. The new monthly fee, which covers weekly curbside trash pick-up, yard waste and bulk trash pick-up, landfill disposal of waste, and the cost of one 96-gallon garbage can, will be $16. The cost of each additional can will increase by 25 cents, to $3.75. The City Council approved the increase to help stabilize the Solid Waste Fund. July Fourth Holiday Schedule
City offices, including Water Customer Service and all library branches, will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. There will be no garbage, heavy trash, or yard waste collection, and the landfill will be closed on July 4. Trash collection will resume on Friday, July 5, and Thursday's collection will be Friday. 
Movie Madness Coming to Central Park
Movie Madness The 2013 Movies in the Park series continues with "The Odd Life of Timothy Green", which will be shown at Central Park this Saturday, June 29. All movies start at dusk. The park is located at 640 S. Fourth St., next to the Best Years Center.
Pet of the Week  PET OF THE WEEK   

Jazzy is a very friendly girl who loves everyone she meets and greets every person who comes to the shelter and walks past her kennel. She is about 3 years old, and is a Belgian Malinois shepherd. Jazzy enjoys playing with toys, people, or other dogs. She has lots of energy and would love a big yard to run and play in. 

The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
