Summer Food Program Kicks Off June 10
The City of Beaumont will again host the Summer Food Program. The program is a joint effort with the Texas State Department of Agriculture, and is designed to provide a free lunch to children 18 and younger who, during the summer months, might not get a balanced meal. Lunches are served every weekday from June 10 through Aug. 16, except July 4. There is no registration required. All meals must be eaten on-site, and second meals are encouraged. Juneteenth Celebration Set for Tyrrell Park
The City of Beaumont will host its annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 15, at Tyrrell Park. The event will kick off the city's Neighbors and Concerts in the Park series. The Juneteenth event will begin at noon with family activities. Live music featuring Brian Jack, Solid Sounds and The Flava Band begins at 3. The park is located at 5305 Tyrrell Park Road. Humphrey "The Hungry Lion" is about 4 years old. He's an unaltered male chow mix, very friendly and playful. He gets along well with children and other dogs..
The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
