Tickets On Sale for 2013 Blues & Jazz Fest
Beaumont BluesfestTickets are on sale for the City of Beaumont's 8th Annual Blues & Jazz Fest. This year's headliner is legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter. The event will be held on the river at Riverfront Park on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20. Tickets are $10 each day. This is a rain or shine event. Purchase tickets online at Ticketmaster. Registration Open for the 2013 Beaumont Bike Cops & KidsRodeo 

The Beaumont Police Department and the Southeast Texas Hike & Bike Coalition are teaming up to present the 2013 Beaumont Bike Rodeo. This fun and interactive event is designed to teach bike safety and road rules to school-age children. The event will be held on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Beaumont Event Centre. Activities include:

  • bike obstacle course
  • bike tune-ups
  • safety instruction
  • entertainment
  • bike silent auction
  • helmet give-away
  • food & prizes

Willard Workshops Offer Credit Guidance
Five Point Credit Union's representative Mandy Clayton will present a two-part series of  workshops on financial credit at the Elmo Willard Library. 
  • "Credit 101": Tuesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m.
  • "Credit Repair":  Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m.
Each one-hour session is free and open to the public.Space is limited, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The library is located at 3590 East Lucas Drive. For more information, call 409-892-4988. 
Movie Madness Kicks Off with 'Wreck It Ralph' at Klein
Wreck It RalphGrab a chair or a blanket and head to Klein Park for the Summer Movie Madness kick-off on Saturday, April 20. "Wreck It Ralph" longs to be as beloved as his game's perfect good guy, Fix-It Felix. Problem is, nobody loves a bad guy. When Ralph tries to be a hero, mayhem ensues. The movie starts at dusk. This event is free and open to the public. The park is located at 6530 N. Major Drive.
Poetry Slam at Johns Library 
The Johns Library branch will celebrate National Poetry Month on Thursday, April 18, with a poetry slam. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., patrons are invited to recite their favorite poem, or read a work by their favorite poet. Refreshments will be served. The library is located at 4255 Fannett Road. Pet of the Week 

Pet of the WeekHope is a young adult mixed cur dog, with a rough start in life. She was rescued from a cruel situation, and is now battling mange. A kind woman is paying for her treatment, but Hope needs to find a forever home with a family to love her, soon. She is not spayed.

The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
