Registration Open for 2013 Calder Twilight 5K
Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in the Calder Twilight 5K, a fun evening race that will take participants down a portion of Calder Avenue and through Old Town. The race will be held on Friday, May 3. Race time is 7 p.m. and race-day registration begins at 6 p.m. in the Rao's parking lot. Pre-Registration through Friday, April 19 is $20, and shirts are guaranteed if registered before that date. Late Registration after April 19 is $25. The run is chip-timed, and awards will be given in five-year age brackets. Online registration and course map are available at cityofbeaumont.com. Register early to guarantee your shirt size!

City Events Mark Easter Holiday
Miller Library Branch
The Miller Library will host an Easter egg hunt as part of the Easter Celebration Story Time on Friday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m. Each participant is asked to bring six eggs pre-filled with candy and an Easter basket. The egg hunt will take place directly following story time. The library is located at 1605 Dowlen Road. For more information, call 409-866-9487.
Sterling Pruitt Activity Center
The Sterling Pruitt Activity Center will host its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23. The event starts at noon, and participants through age 10 are welcome. The center is located at 2930 Gulf St., adjacent to Magnolia Park. For more information, call 409-781-1298, or 409-838-3613. |
Pet of the Week
This week's pet is Hambone, a 3-year-old male tabby cat, not neutered. He is very friendly and loving, and likes to play with toy mice.
The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
