BPD Issues Traffic Advisory for Marathon 

The Beaumont Police Department has issued a traffic advisory for Saturday, March 9, for roadways affected by the Gusher Marathon. The marathon circles Lamar University, runs down MLK Parkway to College Street, and winds through downtown Beaumont. Barricades will be in place starting at 4 a.m. on Saturday, and the entire route is expected to be cleared and open by 2 p.m.

Learn Gardening Basics at Miller
Spring is just around the corner, and the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension can help you get prepared. Representatives from the Extension Service will discuss the basic rules for producing tasty, nutritious vegetables year-round at the R. C. Miller Library on Monday, March 18, from 2-3 p.m. "Vegetable Gardening Basics" will include basic rules and practical advice on becoming a successful gardener. The workshop is free and open to everyone. The library is located at 1605 Dowlen Road. For more information, call 409-866-9487. 
  
Gator Country Team Coming to NE Community Center Gator Country
The Beaumont Public Library System will host presenters from Gator County from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 12, at the North End Community Center. They will present educational information on local habitat, wildlife, and of course, alligators. All ages are welcome. The Community Center is located next door to Willard Library at 3580 E. Lucas. Main Library to Host Inspirational Author 
Book CoverThe Main Library branch will host Mississippi author Consuellia R. Diggs-Michael on Friday, March 22. Diggs-Michael will discuss and sign copies of her book "Movin' Mountains: The Journey is More Important Than the Destination". The program begins at 7 p.m. The book recounts the author's life, with a focus on Christian faith. The program is free, and copies of the book will be available for purchase. The library is located at 601 Pearl Street. For more information, call 409-838-6606.

Bailey is a 10-week-old female Lab mix who is really sweet and loves to play.

The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
