Lamar University's Community Outreach Program is offering free tax preparation and electronic filing for 2012 tax returns and amended 2011 returns. The program includes financial education and services. Qualifying families or individuals must have a gross income less than $50,000 per year. Assistance is available though April 13 at the following days, times and locations:
- Main Library: 801 Pearl St., lower level, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Willard Library: 3570 E. Lucas Drive, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Johns Library: 4255 Fannett Road, Wednesdays from 5-8 p.m.
- Catholic Charities: 2780 Eastex Freeway, Mondays (February through March), 5-7 p.m.
- Society of St. Vincent de Paul: 3730 Farm Road 160 N., Raywood, by appointment only call 936-587-4246
