Resolved to Read More? Library Book Sale Set
It's time again for the Beaumont Public Library System's annual book sale. Proceeds from the sale go toward library programs. The sale features donated and gently used library inventory, including movies, books, books on tape, and large-print items.
Customers are asked to bring their own bags and boxes to the sale, which spans two days:
* Friday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
* Saturday, Jan. 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Classes Offer Free Introduction to Spanish
Students of all ages can get free help learning Spanish beginning Tuesday, Jan. 8. Mona Chavez will teach beginner Spanish for children and adults Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. at R.C. Miller Library. Chavez has been a volunteer Spanish teacher to elementary students for three years. The Miller Library is located at 1605 Dowlen Road. For more information, call 409-866-9487, Ext.3250. |

Aspiring Writers Invited to Miller Workshop
The Miller Library branch will host "The Writing Workshop: The Process to Publishing" on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. Dr. Carol V. Weishampel, Ed.D., will guide beginning writers in the publishing process. Weishampel has published four non-fiction books, two novels, children's books, several articles and editorials, and has been featured in anthologies. Book Club for Home-Schoolers Kicks Off This Month
The Miller Library offers Leaping Lizards Home School Book Club for K-2nd graders every second Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 8, children's librarian Amelia Brister will read "So You Want to Be President?" by Judith St. George. Pet of the Week
This week's pet is a female shorthair, mixed breed cat, about 3 years old, not spayed. She loves to play. The city animal shelter is located at 1884 Pine St., and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
