RMU Black Male Leadership Development Institute Visits Robin Hill Park
On Thursday, June 19, after dodging rain and the threat of thunderstorms, Robert Morris University (RMU) Recreation Director Armand Buzzelli brought a group of more than 70 young men and 15 RMU student counselors to Robin Hill Park for an informational program and trail hike. Many of the youth in attendance had never experienced an outdoor trail hike or spent much time outdoors.
Moon Parks partnered with Hollow Oak Land Trust (HOLT) to provide a fun and informative evening outdoors on the beautiful Robin Hill trails.
"If one or two students from that group become ambassadors in their communities for parks and recreation it was time well spent. I am really thankful for the partnership that Moon Parks and HOLT have developed with RMU and I hope it continues to grow!" said Buzzelli.
The Black Male Leadership Development Institute (BMLDI) offers a year-round experience for African American males in grades 9-12 through activities to challenge the young men to strive for academic excellence, civic responsibility and personal integrity and leadership. |

Moon Township has been invited to participate in Allegheny County's 2014 Side Yard and Blighted Structure Program. The program gives residents the opportunity to improve their community by offering side yards and blighted structures to be purchased at a reduced rate.
There are certain stipulations to follow when applying to this program. Namely, the property you wish to purchase must be either adjacent to your property (side yard) or the property must contain a structure which you plan to demolish or rehabilitate (blighted structure). Structures slated for demolition must be considered a safety hazard.

For information or to request an application, please contact the Allegheny County Economic Development department at (412) 350-1090.
