MTVFC Donates Fire Truck to Breezy Point VFC
The Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company is donating their former Rescue/Command Unit #2 to the Breezy Point Volunteer Fire Company in Breezy Point, New York.  The Breezy Point community and Volunteer Fire Department were devastated by Hurricane Sandy in the fall of 2012.  The Breezy Point Volunteer Fire Company lost everything during Hurricane Sandy including trucks, equipment, and gear.  Moon Township Volunteer Fire Chief John Scott and Volunteer Firefighters will drive the vehicle to Breezy Point. Chief Scott said at the February Supervisors meeting that the Breezy Point Volunteer Fire Department is excited about the versatility of the piece of equipment and mentioned they could use it right away.
MTPD - Prescription Drug Collection
Saturday, April 27 | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Public Safety Bldg.
As part of the National Take Back Initiative the Moon Township Police Department will hold a collection for residents to drop off their unused or expired prescription drugs so they can properly be disposed of.  This event reduces the risk of prescription drug diversion and abuse as well as traces of prescription drugs ending up in the public sewer system from being flushed down the toilet or rinsed down the sink.
Covered Device Recycling Act

Moon Township has increased their number of electronics collections in response to a new Pennsylvania law - The Covered Device Recycling Act.  This law states that electronic devices and their components may not be disposed of with municipal solid waste.  These devices and their components must be properly recycled and may not be taken to, nor accepted by, landfills or resource recovery facilities for disposal or processing.  Moon Township encourages residents to take advantage of the Township's several Electronics Recycling Day events and their annual Recycling Day to properly dispose of these unwanted items in their households.  For more information visit www.depweb.state.pa.us and check back to www.moontwp.com for information on upcoming Electronics Collections.
