Enough Is Enough® (EIE) announced their collaboration with PBS to air the Internet Safety 101® three-part series premiering on PBS stations in Virginia starting November 7, 2012. The PBS series consists of three one-hour television episodes reformatted for television from Enough Is Enough's original Internet Safety 101® DVD teaching series. The Telly award-winning DVD teaching series is the cornerstone component of EIE's comprehensive Internet Safety 101 multimedia program developed in partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice. The series was originally filmed in part in front of a live studio audience and hosted by Donna Rice Hughes, EIE President. Poignant true stories, savvy dialogues and exclusive documentary style footage of kids, parents, the survivor of an Internet abduction, a convicted sex offender, top experts in the fields of law enforcement, psychology, industry and Internet safety are woven into the series covering all topics related to digital safety.
"Working with the amazing Emmy award winning producers at PBS Virginia has been a rewarding experience. We are so pleased to be able to bring Enough Is Enough's Internet Safety 101 DVD series to television audiences throughout the Commonwealth and in key markets nationally," said, Donna Rice Hughes, who also served as the Executive Producer of the Internet Safety 101 Program. "Internet Safety 101 appeals to your head and your heart. Be prepared to laugh, to cry, and above all, become empowered to protect your children on all Internet-enabled devices they use. This program is a must see for all adults with children in their lives. Providing children with a safe and rewarding Internet and digital experience, free from exploitation is our chief mission. "
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell filmed the introduction for each of the three one hour Internet Safety 101 television shows stating, "You're about to see a special broadcast that every adult needs to watch. The Internet has revolutionized our lives and has opened us up to a world of good but also opened the door to potential dangers. As former AG of VA and now as governor, it's a chief priority of my office to keep children safe online. Protecting young people in a digital age is daunting. With the leadership and expertise of Donna Rice Hughes, Enough Is Enough has developed the Internet Safety 101 Program which was piloted in VA in partnership with my office when I was AG. It's designed to prevent Internet crimes against children by empowering parents, educators, and caring adults to be the first line of defense. So I encourage you to stay tuned for Internet Safety 101.
The goal of PBS/EIE through Internet Safety 101® television series is to protect children through educating, equipping and empowering parents, educators and caring adults with the knowledge and resources needed to protect children from online pornography, sexual predators and cyberbullies, as well as cyber security risks and dangers related to social networking, online gaming and mobile devices.
"I'm pleased to have provided a producing role with the Enough Is Enough Internet Safety 101 television series to protect our children from the dangers of internet predators, pornographers, cyberbullies, and other threats," stated award-winning PBS Producer/Director Paul Roberts. "Enough Is Enough aligns perfectly with our public television birthright to educate and inform our audiences in a relevant way. Producing this series for public television distribution has been an opportunity of a lifetime and I thank Enough Is Enough for this opportunity along with our lead sponsor, the Verizon Foundation of Virginia."
Thus far, the PBS/EIE television series is set to air on stations in the state of Virginia as well as in Kansas, Canada and other key markets to be decided. The PBS/Enough Is Enough Internet Safety 101 Program series sponsors include the Virginia Verizon Foundation, AT&T and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, U.S. Department of Justice.
