Congratulations!
This week, seniors Matthew Andriotty and Connor Swords were named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. They join a group of 16,000 seniors selected from over 1.5 million seniors nationwide. This pool of students represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Of this group, about 15,000 are expected to advance to the Finalist level. Merit Scholar designees are then selected on the basis of their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Matthew and Connor will be notified of their final scholarship status next spring.
The 2011-2012 Landmark yearbook was just awarded the "All-American" honor rating from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA). This is the highest rating available. The publication earned 4150 points and Marks of Distinction in Concept/Essentials, Coverage, Design, and Writing. The editorial team was comprised of Jahannah Christian (Editor-in-Chief), Ashley Thwaites (Design Editor), Sally DeVane (Copy Editor), and Lindy Long (Sports Editor).
The Landmark Christian School yearbook program was named a 2012 "National Yearbook Program of Excellence," one of 14 in the state of Georgia to earn that honor.

Dedication of Softball Field
Please join us for the dedication of our new home softball field on Monday, September 17 at the Landmark Athletic Complex. The 4:30 pm dedication will be followed by a 5 pm game against Callaway. Parents, alumni, and friends are invited to help us honor those who made the dream of a home softball field a reality.
GOAL Scholarship Update:
The Department of Revenue announced last week that the $51.5 million 2012 cap on available Education Expense Tax Credits has been reached. To clarify, the entire $51.5 million was fully allocated by August 13th. According to the DOR, no taxpayer applications for approval submitted after that date will be approved.
It is believed that August 13th submissions will be approved for a pro-rated portion of the requested amount, but Georgia GOAL does not yet have definitive information on this. Like last year, GOAL will send letters to all taxpayers who are denied the credit. If they have submitted payment to GOAL, they will send them a voided check, destroy all evidence of credit card information, or delete the pending credit card transaction online, depending on their method of payment. 2012-13 Parent stickers now available - Pick up one today from the elementary office, front office, or media center.

High School All-inclusive Spring Trip to Utah and Arizona
(Bryce, Colorado River, Sedona, Grand Canyon) May 29-June 3, 2013. Deposit of $99 due by September 21, and will be applied to the total trip cost of $2059. Department News: Guidance
There will be a College Probe Fair at Arbor Place Mall in Douglasville on September 17 from 6pm until 9pm. There is no cost to attend the fair but preregistration is required through the Probe College Fair website, www.gotocollegefairs.com. Upcoming ACT/SAT registration dates Deadline for late registration for the October 6th SAT is September 21st, 2012 Deadline for registration for the October 27th ACT is September 21st, 2012
