Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans to Keynote the ISNA Banquet in Cincinnati this Weekend! 
Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans converted to Islam while in high school. Upon converting, he began to study some of the foundational books of the Islamic tradition under the private tutelage of local scholars while simultaneously pursuing a degree in journalism from Columbia. Since then he has studied at Chicagoland's Institute of Islamic Education (IIE) under the rectorship of Maulana Abdullah Saleem, in Tarim, Yemen, and Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, where he recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Islamic law. He is also an instructor with Ta'leef Collective and serves as Scholar-in-Residence at Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN).

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Paula and Ed Kassig spoke publicly Monday, for the first time since their son Abdul Rahman was killed at the hands of Isis terrorists. The two gave a statement, taking no questions from the media. "Our hearts, though heavy, are held up by the love and support that has poured into our lives these last few weeks," said Ed Kassig. His son, Abdul Rahman Kassig, 26, an Indianapolis native, was working as a humanitarian aid worker in Syria when he was captured on Oct. 1, 2013...

ISNA Hosts Stop Hunger Now Packaging Event-Over 100 Local Volunteers Packaged 20,000 Meals

(Plainfield, IN 11/18/14) Last Saturday, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) hosted a Stop Hunger Now packaging event at its headquarters in Plainfield, Indiana. The event was co-sponsored by Islamic Relief, the Islamic Society of Greater Indianapolis, and OBAT Helpers. Over 100 local volunteers packaged 20,000 meals in a matter of two hours. Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief agency that has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger...

SHARING THE WELL: A RESOURCE GUIDE FOR JEWISH MUSLIM ENGAGEMENT,is designed to assist and enhance Jewish-Muslim interactions at the community level. It includes a guide to dialogue, eighteen articles by Jewish and Muslim leaders on topics such as Caring for Others, Family and Heritage, and Religious life; questions for discussion; a sampling of 24 successful Jewish-Muslim engagement programs from across America; and a glossary of Jewish and Muslim terms. The book is available in hard-copy and for free PDF download as well as on the Hartford Seminary website.

ISNA's Interfaith Office hosts Sheikh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi

(Washington, D.C. 11/18/14) Yesterday, Islamic Society of North America's Office for Interfaith & Community Alliances (IOICA) in Washington, DC held a discussion with Sheikh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi, an internationally renowned Syrian Muslim scholar, classified as one of the 500 most influential Muslim figures in the world. One of the earliest Sunni scholars to denounce the atrocities of the Assad regime, Sheikh Al-Yaqoubi was forced to leave Syria in June 2011. An advocate for the right of the Syrian people in building a civil democratic state, Sheikh Al-Yaqoubi has also been critical of Islamic extremism....
